Disappointed - "Mass With Mary"much better,
By Diane (Seattle) - See all my reviews

This book is a teenagers view, not an adult realization. The new book written from inside prison with Ms. Letourneau is much better. "Mass With Mary: The Prison Years" by Christina Dress gives more insight to the woman, the story, and life for Mary since her prison sentence began. A very worthwhile read!

I had higher expectations. I'd suggest reading a magazine before reading this book. Not worth the time, and certainly not worth any investment.

Terrible book. I'm still mad at myself for buying it...at least I picked up a used copy!

NO THANK YOU,

I watched Mary Kay's friend on Good Morning America, Christina Dress wrote a book with Mary Kay called Mass With Mary: The Prison Years and it was a great read so I thought I'd read the book from Mary Kay and Villi. What a let down. This book is awful.

Why does everyone hate this book so much?,

I find it fascinating. Perhaps because what with it being in French and all, I have to read it kind of slowly. I love the details: the tampons Mary uses to curl her hair; Soona's statement that Samoan custom would keep the scandal within the family--perhaps for years; Mary's statement that she was molested by her much older brother when she was 7; her mother's bizarre wedding gift; Vili's art, which really is good for a teenager.

You've got to be kidding....,
By Terry "disappointed reader" (Tacoma, WA) - See all my reviews

I hoped for at least a 'decent' read, and no such luck. This whole Letourneau thing has me a bit curious so I bought a couple of books on it...I picked a rotton book---that's all I can say. My review is a half a star, if that's possible. This book should be shelved for life. (Just an avid reader's opinion...but I do read quite a bit and usually find some merit in most books, just not this one.
