Why does it take several seconds sometimes for my camera to write to the sd card? I have a class 10, 8gb sd card.

Are you sure the camera is writing to the card, or does it say "Processing"? When the camera is in a multi-shot mode such as Hand-held Twilight or Backlight Correction HDR, it automatically takes several images and then merges them, which typically takes a few seconds. However, if you're sure you're referring to just the action of writing to the SD card, then I don't know the answer.
