This Compendium Edition contains a facsimile of the original manuscript edition, the first printed edition of 1883, and the later Addenda published with the Third Edition. Heinrich August Jäschke,(1817-1883), was a Moravian missionary and linguist, born in Herrnhut, Saxony, Germany. He was educated, and later taught at, Paedagogium at Niesky. In 1856 he went to Kyelang (Kailing), Lahul province, India, near Tibet, to prepare for work among Chinese Mongols. His other works include a German-Tibetan and English-Tibetan lexicon.
