Loved the trash can. After a week it started squeaking. An email to the manufacturer resulted in an unsatisfactory response. Put up with the squeaking for two months, then the sensor started malfunctioning. The lid would not close, then it would open twice, then it wouldn't open at all. Changing batteries did not help. Returned the can for a refund.

I loved this can, but tried to add an AC adaptor, and it broke the can! Then we returned it to Bed, Bath & Beyond (who gave us great service!) and they ordered us a new one. I ordered the AC adaptor from the company. The can worked great for about a week, and then stopped. SimpleHuman informed me that they have discontinued the can and I have to return it to Bed, Bath & Beyond and hopefully, I can get a refund. I must also send SimpleHuman the adaptor and I will get a company credit. That's not so bad, but I think since the can is defective and has now been discontinued (why didn't they tell me this or pull the adaptor from their website) I should get a full refund for the adaptor. I like SimpleHuman's other designs and I hope they do well, but this can is a lemon of a design.
