5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Garbage Can
I had tons of extra shopping bags and this little can was perfect. I have small little trash bags now so I can get smelly garbage out of the kitchen sooner without wasting a large bag. In addition, I now have a use for extra shopping bags. An added bonus is the nice stainless styling of this can which goes with my other kitchen accessories. Well made. Very happy with...

1.0 out of 5 stars Badly designed: holes in the bottom
There are holes at the bottom of the garbage can. If your garbage bag leaks at all, then you'll be stuck with garbage juice all over your floor. Given the strength of most grocery bags, that rules out using this garbage can for anything other than recycling paper.

Edit: I recently contacted simplehuman about this issue. They confirmed that the holes are used...

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Kitchen Trash Can :-), February 18, 2008

This review is from: simplehuman Grocery Bag Can, Brushed Stainless Steel, 12.5 Liters/ 3.2 gallons (Kitchen)
My wife and I have had this trash can for over a year now and we absolutely love it. We save money on trash bags and we get to reuse our shopping bags. Also, the small size encourages us to empty it more often, which reduces smells in the kitchen. It's short height lets you place it anywhere; it will fit under a sink or in a corner without any problem. Plus, the smaller size also makes it easier to clean. I don't think this trash can needs to replace anything that is already doing a good job, but if you're like us and are just starting to put together a home, this is a wonderfully helpful item that will make an excellent addition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect design, March 11, 2008
This review is from: simplehuman Grocery Bag Can, Brushed Stainless Steel, 12.5 Liters/ 3.2 gallons (Kitchen)
I've always liked using supermarket bags for recycling and garbage, and this is the perfect bin for doing so. Size is just right to get bags full, but not too full to tie closed. Inside is smooth, so removing packed bags is easy. Handles hold bags in place just right - bag space isn't wasted, and bag edges don't fall inside bin. Bin is well-constructed - seems solid and unlikely to break, and has maintained shape and appearance with daily use over several months. Bottom is plastic, so leaks would be contained and easily cleaned up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sleek, Clean Design, August 20, 2010

Excellent fit for plastic grocery bags with bag loops fitting securely over can handles. (I don't understand some reviewer complaints about the size of the can - it is designed to fit bags that are a certain size.) The can is not water-tight. I noticed small narrow slots around the perimeter of the black plastic bottom. I decided to do a little test to make sure they weren't just there because of some manufacturing process. I held the can over a sink and poured in a little water - it immediately poured out through the slots. You wouldn't want to use this can for very wet garbage - or you could have a mess!

Edit: I recently contacted simplehuman about this issue. They confirmed that the holes are used during manufacturing, and are therefore a "feature". They sent me a canned response when I asked for models that aren't affected by this wonderful feature.

5.0 out of 5 stars even at this price, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this trash bin!, August 12, 2009

For me, it's not about saving money because I'm using store bags; it's that I felt guilty throwing away 20+ store bags every time I went to the store. So then, I started saving the bags for recycling. And every time I went out, I forgot the bags until I'd have a giant bag with more than 200 little bags inside, and then I'd just make a special trip to take them off to recycle. THAT was where I was wasting money. I bought the Simplehuman CW1123 (initially I bought 2) and sort of cringed at the fact that I was buying a $27 trashcan for my bathroom. I've had them about 2 months and have just sat down and, without guilt, ordered 2 more. They are so very convenient. I layer about 5 bags at a time in each one, so that when I pull one out, another is ready to go. Each time I've ordered these, I've ordered the matching bagsaver (I've mounted them near the cans, inside the vanity) to keep the rest of my bags conveniently placed nearby. The sheer convenience of these 2 items makes them worth every cent I paid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking all over for a can that'd fit a certain spot, August 16, 2008
This review is from: simplehuman Grocery Bag Can, Brushed Stainless Steel, 12.5 Liters/ 3.2 gallons (Kitchen)
I have a spot in my desk that used to house a CPU before I got a Mac. The Mac doesn't fit, so I have had a useless hole in my desk for forever. I got tired of kicking over the regular trash can, so I decided to find something that would fit that spot. The simplehuman can fits well and looks good. I only use it for paper, but if I wanted a liner, commercial liners will fit it. Have had simplehuman cans in my bathroom for four years and they are very nice. THey hold up well and I'm impressed with the company's quality and engineering!

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive to buy, Cheap to operate, December 21, 2008
This review is from: simplehuman Grocery Bag Can, Brushed Stainless Steel, 12.5 Liters/ 3.2 gallons (Kitchen)
Perfect for using grocery bags rather than store bought trash bags. It is easy to load a grocery bag, it fits very nicely, use of grocery bags is more environmentally friendly than throwing them away and purchasing store bought. A plus and a minus is the small size of grocery bags. You won't have garbage sitting around as long if you use the small size grocery bags for liners. On the other hand, you may end up having to empty the trash can more than you would like and you can't fit large items into such a small trash can. Furthermore the can is expensive to buy. For applications where it fits perhaps it will pay for itself over time. If you are already stretching grocery bags over a too big trash can having one designed precisely to use those bags as liners will be a blessing.

Been looking for the perfect garbage can to fit under my kitchen sink for years... never satisfied until now. It is worth the extra cost because it works great and is good gauge stainless steel. Yes, and all of those merchant bags fit like a glove and no worries about losing the handles.

5.0 out of 5 stars I never thought I could LOVE a trash can, January 16, 2010

I have purchased three of these for our home - 2 for the bathrooms and one for the office. Store plastic bags fit perfectly in these cans, I store extra bags in the bottom of the can, under the one in use. They fit perfectly in small spaces, between the vanity and the toilet in the bathroom. Love the fact that I don't have to purchase trash bags for these!! They are stylish and useful.
