I am sooo glad I chose this napkin holder!
I was looking for one that laid the napkins FLAT, since I hate when they flop over in stand-up-style holders. This fit the bill, and our contemporary aestetic, perfectly.
It is easy to grab only one napkin at a time, fits a whole lot of (square, standard-sized) napkins, and looks really cool too. Even my grumpy dad thought it was neat!

This napkin holder is great for just pulling out 1 napkin at a time and also looks very contemporary sitting out. I love the fact that my napkins are not flopping over from a stand up napkin holder! I received the first napkin holder with a piece broken off and the company had another one shipping out that same day. Awesome service!!!

The upright napkin holder look better and come in lots more styles, but they really don't work very well. With the upright style every time you pull out a napkin the others need to be straightened. This one is easy to add new napkins, works with lunch or dinner size napkins, and allows you to pull out one at a time. In short it does exactly what it is supposed to do and as a bonus it looks much nicer than in the picture. Love it.

I can't stand it when you grab a napkin from the holder at the dinner table or counter, expecting ONE to slip free, and have the whole darned thing empty with a simple tug. For years I have been casually looking for a better napkin holder that can be used without fear, and with one hand. I found it! This contraption, while looking ungainly, has been an answer to my laments. It actually allows ONE napkin at a time to be removed with ONE hand! And it does so, over and over again. If the styling isn't an issue for you, (as it isn't for me) I highly recommend it.

This holder performs just as most reviewers have said...you can pull just one napkin from the stack and the rest stay in place. Very attractive too!!

Unique looking and it works, great conversation piece. The weight works perfectly when taking one napkin at a time.

I love this napkin holder... but the little black piece (that acts as a hinge) is made of plastic. Mine broke. It still "works" so I keep using it. But I'm looking for one exactly like this but with a more robust hinge.

The concept is great. A thing holds the napkins down, so you can pull up just one!

Unfortunately, it just holds the whole stack and the one you grab together so when you pull one, you pull all of them.

I am not a baby so I don't care about lifting the arm with one hand and grabbing a napkin with the other, but it seems relevant to include in the review that it doesn't do what it says it will. Also it looks pretty phat and matches with my other simplehuman accessories.

Based upon reviews here and at Bed Bath & Beyond, I took the plunge and purchased this item.

I have not been disappointed!

The heavy base keeps the unit in place. The are dispenses one and only one paper napkin at a time.

It has taken expensive paper napkins as well as the cheap ones and they all behave the same.

It is easy to wipe clean, though I would not immerse it in any liquid.

The base wipes clean nicely as well. I would not worry if you happen to set it down on a spill, just wipe and keep going.
