The simplehuman Slim Sink Caddy in Stainless Steel is exactly as the name implies: slim, stylish and functional. The brushed stainless steel just looks good (particularly in a kitchen riddled with stainless appliances and a simplehuman trash can) and the size is appropriate for two standard sponges resting side by side. The plastic bottom is crafted intelligently with many holes to ensure proper drainage and I can't imagine buildup of mildew or debris to be a problem as those holes are sufficiently large. The four removable/replaceable suction cups secure the slim caddy to the side wall of your sink while the top bar ensures stable fit over time (in other words, it won't slip down the wall of your sink and isn't likely to shift side-to-side).
Now here's the hidden feature: I installed the sink caddy and, to my disappointment, the bottom of the caddy hit the bottom of my shallow sink - the garbage disposal side - long before the metal bar touched down on the counter top. My wife suggested I simply move it to the deeper, dish-washing side of the sink, but - in my mind - that defeats the purpose as it would have been in the way while attempting to clean a night's worth of dinnerware. I was prepared to return it when I thought, "Hmmmm...perhaps simplehuman thought ahead and made that metal bar adjustable." Sure enough, upon closer inspection, the metal bar can be squeezed together, popped out of its mounting holes, and moved to a second set of mounting holes further down the caddy!Read more ›

The caddy is made out of rust-proof material, but of course, I have not had a chance to verify that since I only had it for a few weeks.
Update 10/19/2012: It has been over 1.5 years since I purchased the caddy. No rust!
6.5" width x 2" depth x 3.25" height
The caddy extends away from the side of the sink depth+suction cups, which is 2.5 inches.
The lip of the hanger is 2". The height of the hanger is adjustable, set to 2" on arrival.
I have been using the caddy for a few weeks now and I am very pleased. It is convenient, my kitchen sink is more organized, and it has not been in my way once. I placed it at the far right corner (I am right-handed) as shown on the attached photo. This is a nice little gadget and I recommend it.
It has been 1.5 years since the purchase. I am still very pleased with the caddy. The suction cups hold really well, the caddy does not fall off. I only occasionally remove it to clean the sink behind it. No rust.
After a couple of weeks, however, I noticed mold growing on the inside where the metal sides meet the plastic base. The narrow opening made it impossible for me to properly clean the piece and a spin through the dishwasher did nothing either. SimpleHuman offered to send me another one, but that didn't seem like a good solution, because the problem would simply recur. (Despite many rounds of correspondence, they never understood why I didn't want another one and they angrily declined my request for a credit or refund.)
The SimpleHuman web site now describes design features that "minimize bacteria growth," but minimal bacteria growth and time, given the inability to clean it properly, results in lots of bacteria and mold.
I think they need to make it possible to detach the base from the rest of the unit to throroughly clean it at necessary.

Finally, a sink accessory that has two ways to keep it in place. We never have luck with the caddies that only have suction cups. Read morePublished 14 days ago by Lola Bird
