UPDATED June 30, 2014: PRODUCT UPDATE. I contacted SimplyHuman about the handles breaking. They sent me two replacement dispensers. NEWSFLASH: SimplyHuman made the pull handle TWICE as THICK as before as a product design IMPROVEMENT and it is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than before. someone listened !!!! My original post almost 2 years earlier.

Posted in 2011: Very disappointed in this product. I purchased a triple dispenser for my shower as it looks great and it said stainless steel in the description. After about two months of use I pulled the dispenser handle to dispense shampoo and the handle broke off in my hand. The problem? The handle is NOT made of Stainless Steel it is a Silver PLASTIC handle that snapped off. I purchased a single dispenser version and installed it on my triple holder... a few months same thing happened!!! Great looking product however you think the ONE MOVING piece would be made of Stainless Steel. IT IS NOT. Stay away from this product.[[ASIN:B002YNQX16 simplehuman Stainless Steel W.

Nice looking dispenser which really adds a sense of luxury to my double shower cubicle. I had a problem with one of the units right from the start; it dripped constantly but Amazon replaced it without any fuss.
A few weeks later I accidentally nudged one of the units out of its wall mounting with my elbow while drying myself in the shower. It broke on the tiled floor. Simplehuman replaced it promptly without argument.
My solution to the accidental displacement of the dispenser was to wrap several layers of plumbers tape around each of the pegs on the back and re-fit them into the wall mounting. This made them a much tighter fit, much harder to displace but still possible to remove for cleaning. I think Simplehuman should provide plumbers tape for this purpose as the dispensers are rather loose in the wall mounting supplied.

I've had this for about a week now, and in general I found it pretty easy to install, attractive, and functional.

Pros:
- Keeps my tub ledges clean.
- Dispenses the right amount of product.
- Looks nice.
- Easy to install without drilling- can be installed without permanent damage to marble or tile walls.

Cons:
- I wish that the dispensers didn't rattle a little bit in the sockets. It does make it feel a little cheap... and after paying 80 bucks for a soap dispenser, cheap is the last thing you want to be thinking.
- I do happen to use the product for Shampoo, Conditioner, and Soap, but I had pondered using the conditioner container for a separate face wash, and I thought it was strange that they don't offer alternate caps, or some method of re-labeling them.
- The product ships with only one hook cap. Clearly, the dispenser format will allow hooks on both sides, so it does seem rather skimpy for simplehuman to not include two caps to let the consumer have that option. I called their customer service, and they do allow you to order another cap over the phone only. It's one dollar, plus FIVE dollars for shipping. It's pretty ridiculous and inconvenient, and again, for a rather expensive product, it does feel pretty crappy to get nickel-and-dimed for accessories that I feel should have been included with the package.

It's easy to focus on the negative, but I still gave it four stars, because compared to the alternatives that I checked out it was still the best in the field of products.

Followed the instructions, left it on the wall for more than 24 hours. Used it for 2 days and it fell off the wall, cracked the dispenser and lot of clean up... We have the simple flat surface tile, nothing fancy.

Very nice design but it has to stay on the wall to be useful.

Love it. I used double sided exterior (waterproof) industrial velcro (like 5 bucks from Home Depot) and it's held since day one. No way it's going to fall and it won't leave marks or drill holes. I installed it and used it 20 minutes after. Filled it up and no leaks. I used dial soap, and semi-thick shampoo and conditioner. No leaks what so ever. Also with the velcro is holds off the wall by about 1/8" which means no mold or build up will occur behind it.

After about 7 months of daily use, the soap dispensing lever broke off. It looks like it is metal but it is plastic with a chrome-colored finish. When I called to ask for a replacement, SimpleHuman asked for a receipt. When I told them that I did not have one, they told me that they would send me a replacement anyway. Can't ask for more than that. Except for a soap dispenser with a serviceable mechanism.

Dispensers aren't easy to come by, especially when you're looking for any other color than Chrome or Stainless. The Simplehuman is no exception, but the Stainless cover can be easily removed and painted. I used the Rustoleum oilrubbed bronze metallic paint, which works very well. The labels are subtle but not changeable. It's Soap, Shampoo, and Conditioner. For any other fill you simply ignore the label in the lid. (i.e. his and her soap, and shampoo). The dispenser works well with virtually no dripping. The included manual states that no soaps etc. with beads and abrasive solids shall be used. (Something that should be posted on the box and in the description).

This unit looks good at first, but within a few months of using ordinary liquid soap, the pull mechanism on the dispenser broke completely off and it can't be repaired. At nearly $50, this is so cheaply made. Had the same problem with another Simplehuman countertop soap dispenser. This brand is junk.

I had such high hopes for this product; I followed the directions exactly; used ALL the glue; waited 24 hours before putting the bottles on and only filled them half way; 2 days later...heard a big crash and there the whole thing is...on the shower floor..what the heck???? Sending it back!

We did some research and found that the company stated they would be suitable for a commercial installation, so we purchased several for the restrooms at a small performing arts venue. These units are beautifully designed, and look great on the wall. However, they are not durable and break continually. The design is such that it is very easy for the entire soap container to "launch" off the part that is attached to the wall, resulting in a mess of spilled soap (because the top does not screw on) or even worse, a shattered acrylic container. We've had several of the trigger mechanisms snap off, which are impossible to repair, so then the entire unit must be replaced. These are NOT subject to an enormous quantity of users. To give you an idea of usage, one refill of soap in a unit would last 2 months.

We were not satisfied with Simple Human's response to our difficulties with their products, so we have removed all of them from our property and returned the two most recent defective units to Amazon.

Amazon's customer service and return policy is, as always, superb.
