5.0 out of 5 stars blown away! February 17, 2014

This app has rendered my metronome, scales, chord, and other apps I've accumulated, irrelevant. It is free, and the only thing on their site remotely related to any form of compensation are some links to charities. I made a donation to doctors without borders. This my friends, is how apps should be created....compared to 90% of the stuff out there....this one oozes useful, logical, precision, and entertaining information and tools for musicians, students, or anyone. I would rate it 10 stars if possible, thanks so much to our German friends for making this available! This is the Audi R8 of musical instrument tool apps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just The Teacher I Need!!! And Something for everyone! October 17, 2014

I love this app!!! SO many things to choose from to learn: various stringed instruments to learn the chords. I'm using the ukulele part of it right now; many chord positions on the neck for each chord; also can plug in notes on the neck to learn what chord it is; an ear training section; circle of fifths; transposing; so MUCH MORE!!!! Check it out and plug in the instrument you're interested in. This is the app I've been wanting (NEEDING!!!) for a long time!! And it is free! (At least it was when I downloaded it. I hope it doesn't change!) It has a WEALTH OF INFORMATION!!!!!!!!! Just exactly what I've been looking for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm just scratching the surface of the basic level right now but there are advanced levels also. I haven't checked those out yet, but if they are as great as the basic, then I'm going to be really more than happy. On a down side, I did notice that in the Circle of Fifths, the flats for the flat keys are not all pictured in the correct order. But so far I'm loving the ear training and the fact that I can plug in notes on the uke neck and it will tell me the name of chords that aren't in my charts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Full featured refernce tool November 11, 2014
Verified Purchase
It's the one I keep on my tablets and Smartphone for reference. I've written to the developer to add a feature. Right now, if you specify an instrument and a chord name (say, a guitar and A), you get a page with every type of A chord you can imagine (A, Am, A7, Adim,...some I didn't know existed...you get the idea). What I'd like to see is the ability to name an instrument and get a page with all of the basic chords, for example, all major. minor and 7-th chords for a mandolin. The developer likes the idea, but it remains to be seen when and if it will be implemented. If it is, my rating would be 5 stars with no questions.

Metronome, tuner, flashlight (flashlight?!), and so on, but there are lots of other apps that do that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not sure what all of it is for April 4, 2014

I jumped right in and started messing with this app right after getting a cigar box guitar. To my surprise there are settings for this guitar in the app. Some of the things this app does don't have any real purpose as far as I can see, but may be of use to a more experienced player. Speaking of which, it has settings for beginner to beyond expert and modifys itself quite well for each level. I got it for free and at that price it is solid gold. I gave it 4 starts because I use about 30% of the features it provides right now and there is nothing that really explains what the others are for or how to use them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful app for the serious guitar student March 22, 2014
Verified Purchase
This app is loaded with useful features for someone trying to learn guitar (or other stringed instrument). Great chord references and look up tools. Built in tuning application also useful for ear training. Good metronome function if you need to work on your timing and get a grip on standard tempos and beat patterns. Neat strumming features so that you can hear what the variations sound like on your chords without a guitar handy or tap the notes individual for a "finger picking" sound. I love it and you can't beat the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent tool! August 12, 2014

Finally you can fit chord books, scale books, trainers tuners, etc all in a pocket. Too bad the kindle doesnt have microphone or jack, or an SD card slot or even a camera...

Everything in this app works nicely, I havent noticed any bugs or errors. Obviously the tuner and recording features dont work on kindle fire HD since it doesnt have a microphone -- unlike essentially all other pads.. Nuff said, its free :-)
