This is a great way to get into a Trinitron - it only has 1 input but the input can be either RCA or S-Video, which is a big help for the DVD player. I usually buy top-end but I do not have regret staying with this model. Excellent Sony design, especially the remote. Makes you wonder why anyone would go with another brand when you see it.

I had intended on buying Toshiba's comparable set in order to use the component inputs until I saw the Sony. The difference in picture quality was obvious even to my six year old son. I suspect the main improvement was attributible to the very flat screen which really cut down on glare. The remote was very intelligible and well layed out. The case is very solid and doesn't look as cheap as many other similar sets.Only criticism so far pertains to features. No PIP (no big loss here) and only one tuner input along with video/S-video. If you don't need all this stuff, I suggest you put your money into the picture and buy this unit.

crooked screen,
This review is from: sony 21" TV MODEL KLV21SG2 (Personal Computers)
The picture slants down from the left to right side of the screen over an inch. This is very annoying especially when watching a letterbox DVD movie. Obviously I exchanged the TV for a new one, and the new one had the same problem. I am going to exchange for a different model now. In general I have always liked Sony TV's, They are the best. But not sure why they decided to make this model so poor.

Tilted picture. Read this before you buy!,

I bought a KV-27S a little over a year ago. Several months later I purchased a DVD player, and while watching a letter-boxed movie I noticed that the picture on my television screen was tilted. A couple months later I was visiting a business associate who had the same model TV, only he had noticed a severely tilted picture right away and brought the TV back to the store. After 2 or 3 trips back to the store he finally found a set that had a level picture.Since these incidents I've visited several electronics stores and checked the SONY TVs on display -- a fairly large percentage of them had tilted pictures. I talked to a few salespeople, who readily acknowledged that this was a common problem with SONY TVs, though some of the newer models now have a tilt adjustment (hmm, I wonder what prompted SONY to add this feature). Don't take my word for it though, check and ask around for yourself. The tilting problem is usually not that noticeable unless you are watching a widescreen movie or a channel that has a banner across the bottom of the screen (Headline News, ESPN2, etc) -- but it can be very annoying. SONY's service warranty lasts only 3 months, so check your TV set as soon as you get it home (if you decide to buy one of these models). Better yet, ask to check the TV at the store before you buy it. Believe me, you don't want to wrestle with SONY's customer service.

This Tv is very nice in the back it has 2 sets of Video imputs and one of them has S-Video. Also i haven't noticed any baqd things about this tv except it was a little hard to set up the pip because the tv doesn't have 2 tuners, so you have to use the vcr as a second tuner.

I just bought this TV this weekend and so far I love it. The picture quality is great and it was easy to set up. I had it out of the box and was watching it in minutes without any problems. I thought the flat screen makes this Sony TV look physically a lot nicer than other 27 inch TV's.

I purchased this set about 4 months ago. I was also shopping for a WEGA but I noticed this was alot cheaper. Being a regular trinitron, it wasn't completely flat like the WEGA's I'd seen. It's only vertically flat but the horizontal curve is so slight that it looks very, very close to flat. picture quality in s-video and a/v is on par with the WEGA's I've seen. The only gripe I have is the lack of extra's. there is only 1 a/v and s-vid input on the back. I had to get a switch for it. I go online with my Sega Dreamcast and the text is very clear and easy on the eyes. The black is really dark and I can turn the color up high with no bleeding. All my game systems look superb on this set. There's no better 27" TV for the price. I can't really talk about the speakers because I've never used them. I have it running through a Sony MHC-BX3 system and it sounds great. Unless you want to spend $900 plus for a WEGA, this is your best bet.

I've had this television for a couple months now. The picture is great, the remote is easy to use, and I've had no problems with this t.v. now, and don't expect to for years to come. Quite honestly however, you can get a similar television with the same quality picture made by other brands for much less money. The real gamble is really a long term one-are you sure your product will last? With this Sony television, I feel comfortable knowing that it should last a while. You're essentially paying extra for the name and reputation. Now here's why I might NOT recomend this t.v. and it's pretty important. For those of you who have multiple auxilary systems (receiver, PS2, DVD player, etc.), I wouldn't recomend this t.v. becuase it only has one S-video input, and one coax input and that's it. No second S-video input and no component input. You'll need to pay extra for an adapter that switches between inputs if you want to utilize all of your home entertainment toys. Other than that, this t.v. is great.

Good Sony 27 inch Stereo Color TV,

This is a good set from SONY. It has a Digital comb filter that increases picture resolution and reduces noticeable dot-crawl, which is visible on less expensive 27inch brands. It has Rear audio and composite video inputs as well as an S-video input for DVD, Laser Disc players and Super-VHS recorders for higher picture resolution. It also has XDS, which has become a standard feature of late on better TVs. XDS receives information that some broadcasters are sending with their signals. It also comes standard with Clock, Sleep Timer, Channel Jump and V-chip. It comes with Remote SONY RM-Y165. I just saw this set this weekend with a satellite signal and DVD demo. It looked very good.
