This is the best and the ONLY bluetooth headset for driving in a convertible that I found. I've spent several hundred dollars in the past 3 years and almost gave up, when I saw the 510-USB rated as the "Laptop Ultimate Choice for 2007". I tried Motorola, Zen, Cardo, Jabra, etc, etc...but they were all useless, despite the claims of the manufacturers...even when Cardo (latest purchase before 910) is a manufacturer of headsets for motor bikes. When driving in a heavy LA traffic with a lot of traffic/road noise, honkings, combined w/ wind noise (even w/ the wind-guard of a MB up), if I wanted to talk business or talk w/o raising my voice, it was way too much background or wind noise for the other party. There are many great noise-cancelation headsets out there, but very few that ALSO provide good wind cancelation. Plantronics 910, however, is amazing. I was talking w/ the top down in a heavy street traffic and I can hear all the noise around me, but the caller on the other end told me that she thought I was talking from a quiet room. I found THAT almost hard to believe, but, after the 2nd person told me the same thing, I was a convert. Unbelievable !!!

Yeah, it's a bit big...and not the smallest to put it in your pocket (when I have to valet park)...or just have it on your ear, when you're doing a quick run into a store...and the charger that comes w/ it only charges from the computer USB (which has its advantages...but wish I can also get an inexpensive AC charger so that I don't have to use up one of my only 2 USB outlets)...and the ear piece that goes into your ear (even though, they have small, medium and large) never feels as snug or secure as a Jabra, BUT Plantronics 910 does what it's supposed to better than any other...that of being a GREAT bluetooth headset with an unbelievably great noise cancelation and superior wind resistance technology, leaving me to be able to communicate w/ others w/o concerns for my surroundings. It's the only one I found that is great for windy outdoors.

Buying it on Amazon was the least expensive and easiest.....

Now, Plantronics, if you can only make it smaller.....

This is a great headset for Skype as well as your cell phone. It fits comfortably over your ear and stays there securely during all but the most athletic movements. Unlike many other headsets, this places the speaker on your ear canal and not in it. (This may be why some others feel that it doesn't fit well for them.) I find that it blocks a lot of wind noise from being transmitted. Maybe not as much as the Aliph Jawbone, but pretty darn good. It is bigger than some other headsets, but if you fold it halfway between left and right it gets fairly slim and seems durable. (I've broken some others by putting them in my pocket.) Interesting enough, when you set the BlueTooth dongle in Skype, the primary sound output for your PC is the 910. Not so good for music or movies, but kind of nice for listening to things when you don't want others to hear.
My "bads" are that I don't like the charger connection. It is a small, short pin/sleeve. I have had some occasional troubles getting a good tight connection. Not often, but a mini-USB charging port would be welcomed. That would be more "universal" as well. I've had some problems switching from PC connection to cell phone. Not enough to give it a black mark, but enough to note to you.
If you don't do Skype, VOIP, etc. then I'd suggest that you buy the Plantronics 510 instead. It is the same headset without the BlueTooth dongle but it has an AC charger instead of the one that plugs into a USB port.

I am unable to get the USB Bluetooth adapter to work w/ Vista. I just got off of chat w/ Plantronics support. Plantronics says that they neither support nor provide any drivers. If you need this to work w/ Vista, I suggest looking for another product. It does work great w/ my cell phone, but paying extra for PC integration was a waste.

I have try so many bluetooth headset since 2004 (Jabra, Motorola, Kyocera and some generic brand)-- No one can match my cheap $10 wire headset. I gave up eventually. I accidentally found this gem when I decided I need something for skype.

What I like about this:

1) Loud and clear headset. I can now wind down my car window & enjoy the summer wind while driving on a HWY. Most bluetooth headset fail this test. I can barely hear anything with windows down before.

2) The noise filter works so well that my boss thought I am in the office all the time but in fact I am siting outside smoking near a busy road.

3) Headset respond within 1-2 ring from my Treo. Some BT takes 5 ring by then my boss will hang up.

4) Works with skype very well. Other party cant tell the diff from my wire headset and this at 20ft & 3 walls away.

5) Works together with skype and Treo. Headset can pick up if either one ring.

6) Comfortable enough to hang it the whole day.

7) Can listen to Youtube, play games & watch DVD in office while people taught u are talking to customers. Most people never taught that a bluetooth headset can listen to music on your PC. (My main reason for buying). Volume can also be control at your PC.

CONS:

1) Manufacturer claim a range of 33 ft. They forget to add "Only in the jungle". In a modern home and office there are alot of interference and I will say max range at 20ft w no interference if u have lots of other BT like cordless phone, microwave etc... it can reduce to 10 ft.

2)SHould have provided a 2 pin charger. Now I have to power my PC all the time to charge it.

3) When using Skype for first time, remember to set the mic to platronics as default. Skype always goes back to windows default. Hope they fix it.

In short this is by far the best BT headset I have used. Super Loud and clear, the ability to stream all sound from my PC and the noise canceling works wonder. This thing has increase my happiness by 5% overall.. all for 79 bucks.

I migrated to this device from a Logitech USB headset for VOIP calls. This is superior to the Logitech because the Logitech device embedded much noise cancelling technology that it interfered with the call quality. As my laptop has bluetooth embedded, it took me a while to realize how to configure with the native bluetooth. Out of the box it is surprising that Plantronics does not anticipate that most laptops now have bluetooth, and their software does not support natively installed bluetooth devices -- only when you put the dongle in. However one can use the headset just fine without their dongle and without their software, and ultimately you don't even know what you are missing. The switching from my laptop to Treo 650 bluetooth is confusing at best. I find myself grabbing my ear, and pushing buttons. The device keeps loosing its registration on the Treo, but likely that is a Treo and not a Plantronics issue.Note that the description is wrong -- there are no stereo ear buds hear...nice try. I looked for them in my box.

This is a good product, been using it with VOIP software on my laptop and my BlackBerry/mobile. Battery life is as advertised and sound quality is excellent. A nice feature is that you can disable the stupid flashing light so prevalent on most Bluetooth headsets. I am not sure if this makes it any less dorky, but it means using it in a car at night is a lot less distracting. My only criticism is that there is no way (I have found) to determine the current battery charge status. This combined with the fact that there is very little time between the warning beep for battery level, and the thing dying can be frustrating, particularly since you cannot use it while it is charging. That said, the battery life is longer than you get with most headsets, so it isn't really an issue as long as you charge it overnight. A highly recommended purchase.
