The DCM2160 Coffeemaker has a few design issues.
1) The most bothersome for us is that the carafe dribbles when pouring a cup of coffee or using it to fill the water tank.
2) Another issue is that the lid of the coffee maker is hinged at the back and allows the water condensation that collects on the lid to drip down the back of the coffee maker and end up all over the kitchen counter.
3) Another, but less severe, issue is that the drip apparatus is connected to the lid so it gets in the way when trying to fill the water tank.

If you enjoy wiping down your kitchen counter every time you make coffee and every time you pour a cup, this is the one for you. FYI, I did try to inform Black & Decker but have not had a response to the comment I submitted on their website.

I wrote a review a while back when I first bought the black-colored version of this coffee maker. I wrote about the clock not working for more than a day, and also gave measurements to show that the coffee maker does not work well with overhead cabinets because the lid raises up and hits the cabinets.

Well, today the coffee maker died. It stopped pumping, and the heater element isn't turning on. I only had this coffee maker for a few months, and already it is broken. For $29, I did get what I paid for.

BUYER, please beware! This is a VERY cheap coffee maker!!!

Here's a quick video that shows the Black & Decker 12 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker in use. You'll see it's main fault... which would be pouring liquids... which, well, is what it should do best. So, along with all the other reviews that say "do not buy this product," I concur. This thing is just horrible.

After my previous coffeepot died, I went for this B&D DCM2160B because it was cheap and I needed caffeine stat.

I will say this: it continues to work after 2.5 years, but every day I have to:

1) move it out from underneath the kitchen cabinets, because the lid lifts straight up and there's no room to maneuver to put in the fresh grounds unless I pull it out;

2) wipe up spilled water because the top opening to pour in water is partially blocked by the water pump system, AND the carafe spout drips badly;

3) wipe up spilled coffee, because the spout on the carafe drips everywhere (see #2).

When this one finally dies, I will definitely not be purchasing another B&D coffeepot.

This coffee pot has improved my flexibility enormously. I can now bend at the waist and touch the floor with ease. Two weeks of wiping coffee off the floor and counter will do that. If consistently pouring coffee on the floor and counter weren't bad enough, the feature list on the box and B&D website adds insult to injury: the first feature listed is the "Perfect Pour® Carafe." I guess it is perfect if you want to lap coffee off of your counter and floor. Too bad my dog does not like coffee.

A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT. THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS DID NOT WORK. THE ON/OFF BARELY WORKED. THE TIME COULD NOT BE SET. IT COULD NOT BE PROGRAMMED. IT LOOKED NICE AND WAS PURCHASED FOR THE DECANTER BECAUSE A NEW ONE COST ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE ENTIRE COFFEE MAKER. THE PRIOR COFFEE MAKER WAS FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER AND IT WAS EXCELLENT. THIS ONE WAS A LEMON.

First of all, WHY IN THE WORLD DID MELITTA STOP MAKING THE "MILL AND BREW"? What a great little, wonderful inexpensive system. The B and D carafe pours great for us, just can't dump the entire contents at once. The carafe dribble issue seems to cut across all brands (we have had some do it too), my guess it is just some lack of consistency during the outsourcing of manufacturing. Just doesn't seem possible that the different companies wouldn't realize the dribble belongs in the magic/joke shop and not meant for the barely awake older american pouring hot liquids. Anyway no dribble on ours. Condensation issue is there, but only when raising the fill/top lid, if one is making a second pot within hours of the first. The design of the lid does have some "damns" flow barriers that are meant to channel the condensation back into the unit but some does come down the rear outside. Our issue......I like to grab a large mug full of Joe while a unit is brewing, it has the usual spring loaded shut valve that backs up the coffee into the filter basket, works fine with only 4-5 drops making it through, but the coffee temp coming out of the basket is more than luke warm but not "I just gotta sip, or I am going to burn my mouth" temp. I want the latter. Appears I will either need to nuke that first mug or wait until the pot and the warmer have had time.

Based on Consumer Reports recommendations, and the company's description,I ordered the Black & Decker DCM2500 Coffeemaker. It arrived promptly through Brand Variety, but on first use, I discovered a serious leak in the carafe between the plastic top and the glass. I contacted Black & Decker about the defective carafe asking that they send me a replacement. They told me that the carafe was not covered by the warranty, but that they would sell me a new carafe. I then contacted Brand Variety who said I could return the coffeemaker for a credit on its cost. They promised to send me a prepaid return label, but their letter did not contain the return label. The policy seems to be spend millions for advertising, but only pennies for customer service.

I was looking for a reasonably priced coffee maker that got the job done without too many bells & whistles. This appliance is excellent, autoomatic on & off, warming plate up to two hours, NO-Drip carafe! It is simple and efficient and makes a great cup of Joe. KQ

I hate this messy coffee maker. There is no way to pour coffee from this carafe without it dribbling coffee onto the counter. I have to pour my coffee over the sink to avoid the mess. If I would have read the reviews before I ordered I would not have ordered this coffee maker.
