I just received this bike from Amazon. The only other place I saw it listed for sale was on Sears' site. Schwinn says this is a sport store bike (Dick's) rather than a big box store(Target)bike. Amazon doesn't have too much in the way of specs on the bike. It probably weights about 30 lbs. The tires are 700 x 40c. So they are not a narrow racing tire.
The bike does havea kick stand with it, even though you can't see it in the one picture Amazon shows. It also has a chain guard. Assembly isn't terrible, but I did unhook the front brake cable and re-route it in front of the handelbar. I also had to take the stem off the handle bar, install it, and then reattach the handle bar to the stem. The bike came in a Schwinn box, that was within another larger box, but there was some damage to both boxes, and the seat was bent. At Amazon's suggestion, I called Schwinn, and they said they would send me another seat. So......I am older, and don't like to lean down on the handle bars, so this comfort bike with the higher handlebars should be good for me. An with 24 gears it should make the hills manageable. It looks like a good bike, and looks well made. The brakes and gear selectors are already attached. You just have to twist the handle bar around and mount it on the bike, along with the front tire.
If you ever played around with your bike as a youngster, you can probably figure out the assembly. The handle bar install and adjustment is the only real work.

This was a gift for my husband. Love him, but not the handiest person on the planet.

He had no trouble assembling it the rest of the way, or so he thought. On he first trip (with the toddler wagon in tote) he was exhausted after a couple of miles. He realized that the breaks were partially engaged all of the time.

So, if you purchase and assemble this yourself, look for the little screw holding the break pad in place, that can tighten and loose to complement the brake line for the right amount of pressure and non-pressure.

Other than that, great delivery, condition, and product!

BEST BIKE EVER! Perfect for women too and for people with bad backs. You sit upright, front shocks to absorb the bumps on the road or light trails, a comfy seat, and easy to shift. Easy to assemble although I am still having a hard time getting the front wheel to align properly and brakes new a little adjustment as they rub against the tires after I adjust them. hmmm?? I'll figure it out. Other than that, I am loving sitting high up and lovethe big wheels. Thanks Schwinn. My neighbors are jealous. Woo hoooo!

1. This bike is a Size 16. If you're taller than 5'8", this isn't the bike for you.
2. Assempbly requires a metric Allen wrench set which isn't included.
3. Break alignment is a bit tricky. Refer to the first review for the fix.
4. The instruction manual is poorly organized.

That said, it's a fun entry level hybrid. It's great for relaxed rides for relatively short distances on flat terrain. The bike handles well on roads and grass/smooth trail. I like the upright seated posture, and the seat itself is comfortable.

Hi,

One month and less than 100 miles on the bike and the internal pedal bearings are shot. Returned to Walmart to see if they could tighten this because it would make a clicking noise every pedal and the looseness would cause the chain to fall off when shifting. Guy looked at it and stated it could not be repaired in store. Luckily I was able to get a refund after convincing CSM that a store credit was not helpful as this was their top-of-the-line bike!

Welcome to the redheaded illegitimate child of the Schwinn (Pacific) Co. You have probably arrived here because you have purchased this bike and are trying to gain information on the Connection. Good Luck! If you contact Schwinn by phone they will admit to knowing they have a bike by the name Connection, but you wont find it on their website. Even the bike manual that comes with it is for "Hybrid" models and is useless as far as I can tell. Lucky for me I bought this bike assembled because if I had to assemble this using the directions...well...I'm glad I didn't.

First off, I have to assume that there is a federal law that states that all bikes sold in America have to come with a seat. With that said, this bike does come with a seat. If it didn't, you could sit on the post where the seat connects and be just as comfortable, but I guess a law is a law. Seriously, if they got caught making the detainees at Guantanamo ride this bike using the stock seat that place would have been closed in a week. Throw it out. I mean it. Don't think that you are going to get used to it with time. Heaven forbid you should ride out 6 miles out and then realize the damage to your hindquarters because now you have to suffer the return trip. My butt still hurts; day 10! Generally speaking the formula for pricing this bike is: cost + 10%(seat) +tax. I found a saddle made by Schwinn (what a shock) that changed the whole experience of this bike.

With that said, this bike is actually pretty cool. It is light-weight and has tires that are significant but do not cause excessive friction. My scientific way of saying you wont die on your first ride. The rims are also reinforced which along with the extra 3 gears is the only difference I could find between this Schwinn and the next model which is 25% less expensive.

I have no problem with the brakes. I live in Maine which is one hill after another. I appreciate the power and stability of the braking system and have never ridden any bike with better brakes.

I gave this bike only 4 stars because of the disconnect (I bet you thought I would say seat, no I expected that) from Schwinn. Although I was able to warranty my bike with them the fact that I can not see where this bike falls in their lineup frustrates me. Did I get a good deal or bad? What does GSL stand for exactly. There is no YouTube video for the Connection!?!?!?! Why does the Pacific website have absolutely no bikes that even look like mine??? Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrhhhhh......... You are messing with my obsessive-compulsive disorder!!!!!

Anyway, I really like my bike so I guess I am just going to have to live with my unanswered questions, not mess with my bike, and just enjoy it. Damn, foiled again.

I purchased this bike to use on the weekends and cruise around the city. It is really a great hybrid bike and makes for a comfortable ride. I would recommend this to a friend.
