Took awhile to convince my husband this was a good thing. Now he's totally sold and our poor little "regular" coffee maker is feeling neglected. Whatever Keurig you choose, be sure to get the My K-Cup so you can use any type of coffee you wish. This is the thing that sold us on the unit. The K-cups are fairly expensive themselves, but the fact that I can still buy my own gourmet, locally roasted coffee and grind perfectly to use in my Keurig has me tickled pink.

We purchased one which came with an assortment of 60 K-cups as well as the My K-cup unit. Really enjoying trying the different flavors that came with the unit. When using the My K-cup, it took a few tries to get the right grind, but once you find that with your grinder, you're all set. I saw several comments by others that the coffee was very weak, and found the following Amazon reviewer's suggestions very helpful: [...] Perhaps not the greatest solution long term, but until Keurig can fix the design flaw of the My K-cup, it'll do.

I love the following features:
- Auto on and off: the unit is ready when I stumble out of bed and feel my way to the kitchen. I have it set to turn off in an hour.
- Multiple cup sizes

The unit is rather large and takes up some space, but it's totally worth it. We are keeping our "regular" coffee pot for occasions when we just want to make a pot of coffee, but we are really loving our Keurig!

I just got this machine & my Coffee tasted burnt. My water temp was at the higest setting 192. I thought that temp my be too high,so I set it to lowest setting of 187 & my coffee is perfect & still hot enough for plenty of half & half. The burnt taste is gone. This setting may differ in all machines,so if your getting a burnt taste with your machine, try different temp settings. You just got to find your "Sweet spot" :)

TOP 500 REVIEWERon December 1, 2011
This is a great machine - but only when it's working properly. I've had to return two units to the store I bought them from (luckily they (starts with "C" and ends with "ostco") have a GREAT return policy). The two units eventually stopped working right and couldn't pump out the water or the right amount of water... and yes, I did try descaling them. The last one that I just returned today was descaled TWICE to try to get it back into working order, and each time I went much further than the descaling instructions called for... not only that, I always used filtered water to begin with.

Even the new one I replaced it with seems like it is not working perfectly as it still seems to struggle to get the water out or get the right amount of water out. We'll see... I'll give it 6-9 months of life before I probably have to return it too.

So I only feel comfortable giving this unit 2 stars because of the reliability problems I've had with them.

It's interesting to note too, that although it's the same model ("B70"), they've made some "improvements" in the versions I've had... like supporting an additional cup size (added when I returned my 1st unit) and now a bigger water reservoir but they still call it the "B70". I'm not sure if I like the bigger reservoir as it seems a bit large, taking up more space, but I do like its new lid design where the front of the lid flips open so you can easily add water and then flip it back closed. Now if only they could improve the reliability.

UPDATE 2013-03-14: The unit I've been using for the past few months is still WORKING! At this point, I'd normally have run into problems and had to return it, but perhaps they finally fixed this issue. The unit has basically been trouble-free and I have not experienced "short cups".

This is PERFECT if you are an everyday or even casual coffee drinker. I love to make cold coffee with it. I got a huge assortment of the keurig cups and have been using them a few times a week. Every flavor I have tried so far has been good. The coffee maker itself works flawlessly. My only complaint is that it's sort of hit or miss on how good the coffee will taste when you go to the larger cup sizes. I like to brew the normal size first then re-brew and see if it still holds flavor.

Also, I don't like how expensive the cups are. While, I have a lot of cups right now, I have a feeling if I used this more frequently I'd be spending way more money. I do have the my k-cup so I will probably end up using that.

I rated this 5 stars because the coffee maker itself is great. Works great, I love how I can fill it up with a lot of water and make a few cups any time I want. Very easy to use. It came with 60 k-cups and while they aren't the more desired flavors (to me), they are still good to get a feel for the coffee maker with.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that I love having a single serve coffee maker, my second Keurig B70 just died. Dead. Kaput! It is just over a year old. No warranty. I miss it, and don't know what to do. It's an expensive machine to just die after a year. So I can't give it a good review

We absolutely love the single cup brewing, but we have gone through about 6 of these now. Keurig is always great about sending a new one, and Costco was great about a refund, but I am just tired of getting new ones and having them die within months. Actually, when all of ours died we went back to the original base model Keurig. It still runs great; however we were spoiled by having 5 sizes to choose from instead of just 2. Plus the base model is much louder. BUT, at least it runs and hasn't quit after several years! Save your money on the B70.

July 11, 2013: In August of 2012 I purchased the Cuisinart ss-700 here at Amazon. It is made with Keurig technology and uses k-cups. We have had none of the problems that we had with the Keurig. Many sizes to choose from, comes with the attachment that allows you to use your own coffee (and even has a place on the machine to store it), has a hot water and a rinse feature. Love this one. B0034J6QIY

Buy anything else but a Keurig.

We have gone through three of these machines and everyone of them failed with the same issue within a year of getting it.

In the beginning it worked great. But in less than a year the issue started.

You put your K cup in, select your brew size and wait... The machine says it is brewing, the water level in the reservoir goes down as it pumps water into the internal tank and then... nothing. Even though the machine says its brewing, nothing comes out. Eventually the display will go back to "Ready".

We used only purified bottled water and cleaned it at the recommended intervals.

The work-around is to unplug the machine for a few seconds then plug it back in. Of course that means resetting the clock, on/off times etc. In reality, do not bother because you will be unplugging it again soon enough.

While Keurig has a good no hassle replacement policy (under warranty), for $160.00 I do not think it is unreasonable to expect a coffee machine to last longer than a year.

I bought my Mr. Coffee ISTX95 in 2008 and even though it does not do individual cups, it still works correctly every time.

we love our new Keurig Platinum B70 coffee maker. i was disappointed with the content of the 60 K-Cups included as over half were bold or extra bold coffee which neither of us drink. other than that it's all 5 stars.

being able to have his half decaf and my flavored coffees w/o having to make a whole pot of each is awesome. we wasted a lot of coffee before but now nothing goes to waste. the My K-Cup is a great addition. i also went ahead and bought a package of two My K-Cups which have more than paid for themselves in the short time i've had them. you can see them here: [...]
now we can buy regular coffee and brew it up in the My K-cups. we love that!

if i'd known Keurig made a higher-end model which has a water filter built in i'd have bought that one as having to use filtered water in the water chamber could get costly if we used bottled water. as it is, we have a Brita pitcher that we've been using. sooner or later i'm going to have to have a dedicated filter system just for the Keurig as we use more water for that than for drinking. LOL

the long and short of it is we're both VERY pleased with the Keurig Platinum B70 brewing system and would recommend it to any of our family and friends.

We bought our Keurig in November of 2010 and it worked well until about 3 months ago. As another reviewer mentioned, we would get the occasional half cup but usually a few cycles later it was back to working as normal. About 3 months ago the same issue as another reviewer popped up, the machine would draw water from the tank into the heating mechanism and then it would just sit there and never pump the water back out into the cup. By continually running cycles eventually the water would start to come out an overflow valve with some of it diverted back into the tank and the rest into a cup, however it was not pressurized like the water that is pumped through the k-cup should be. Multiple descaling efforts, cleaning of needles and filters resulted in no change. A call to customer service yielded the same results, an offer of $100 off a new machine which would in the end cost us $80 because it was 6-7 months out of warranty. The pump is not replaceable so you're only option is to buy another brewer. I had a supervisor tell me that they've not heard any similar issues as what I was having and when I informed him that these issues are all over the internet he just repeated his offer of $100 basically ignoring what I was saying. My wife and I loved the brewer, when it worked, but are extremely dissapointed in the lack of customer service for what seems to be a design flaw/reoccuring issue.

This is a very disappointing machine. Starts out great...coffee hot and ready quickly. However, they are known to have pumping and brewing problems that have not been fixed over a number of years. No idea why Keurig hasn't created a permanent fix. I am on my third and am returning it once more. But, this time I will go to another manufacturer. Read about this online. Huge issue. Don't waste your time.
