Cannot believe a respected company would put something like this on the market. I was quite certain from the start this was a gimmick but the wife wanted it and believed it would work for her needs; biologist, record presence of subject before flight.

Reason #1 Not to Buy (NTB): while unit is powered off, drains batteries (fresh batteries dead in 4 days and this does not include use!)

Reason #2 NTB: LCD washes completely out in sunlight, unusable for framing

Reason #3 NTB: Quality of image is extremely poor; remember this is using a dedicated 4x (cheap) lens to capture image, not 8x glass in binoculars. You could have 30 MP sensor and you'll still get junk image. Also, what fills the view of binoculars and appears close, sharp, will not look remotely the same in captured image.

Reason #4 NTB: Price. Ridiculous.

One day there will be a version that integrates optics from binoculars to capture image on sensor. That day it might be worth investing in the tech. For now, steer clear of ALL BINOCULAR CAMERAS, regardless of manufacturer.

This binocular/Camera combination just doesn't work from Barska. The first time I ordered it from Amazon I was excited because I thought it was the perfect way to view and record wildlife in the backyard. First problem was that the right eyepiece and the left eyepiece did not adjust properly. It was like looking cross-eyed through them all the time. Simple manual adjustment for focus and right eye astigmatism did not work - lenses must have been out of alignment. Next problem was the camera would not take in-focus photos - regardless of the adjustments made in the menu system viewed through the small LCD. Photo after photo, near or far, resolution after resolution - all out of focus. So I thought just a bad set and ordered a return and replacement from Amazon. The next set had no problem with focusing through the binocular eyepieces. However, the camera again would not take in-focus photos. I'm being very critical here because this is marketed as an 8 Megapixel resolution camera. If those 8 Megapixels produce an out-of-focus photo it is a useless piece of equipment. And because both cameras had the same problem I'd say this does not say much for Barska. Later, I went to a number of forums and could find nothing good said about these types of combination binocs and camera unless you have low expectation about the camera part of the combination. The camera on all of them does not go through the binocular lenses. This means most of the focusing and distance changes are done with software - not a good thing when implemented poorly.

I purchased these for a Christmas present and the person has returned them to me saying he has spent 6 months trying to use them. Very poor design, not what they have advertised and see below why to steer clear of these.

Reason #1 Not to Buy (NTB): while unit is powered off, DRAINS BATTERIES with in a very short time even if you haven't used it!)

Reason #2 NTB: Can't see the LCD (it is way to small and too faint even in house)

Reason #3 NTB: Quality of image is extremely poor; Can't seem to adjust the image

Reason #$ NTB: The instructions on the pamplet is very poor....Can't find the (shutter) button unless you experiment for half a day..... Why would you put all the ON/MODE on one button?????

WISH I HAD MY MONEY BACK AND THEY HAD THIER CAMERA.

I thought this sounded pretty good with an 8-MP camera. The binocular function was ok, but the camera was useless. First the images were not in focus when the binocular was in focus, I never was able to capture a reasonable quality image, and it will not focus closer than 60ft. Our bird feeders are about 20ft from our window, and the description says it will focus to 16ft, but it's not until the very last item in the manual that it says the camera's closest focus is 60ft. Won't work for us.

Easy to hook up, however, Did Not come with A SD memory card. Will Not work without one. We used a SD memory card we had, 4G. So, we love it. Worth the money! Easy to use. Takes photos and videos, movies with sound. Really cool product.

I don't know why anyone complains about the pictures you are taking. These are first and all a binocular and even using them as such need a steady hand or a monopod, tripod or some sort of resting place in order to get rid of any shake unless you have extremely steady hands. So when taking a picture first quit complaining about not getting the same size of picture because they use a seperate digital camera with a different magnification than the binoculars and even when using a digital camera if your not keeping it steady when taking pictures you can still get a blurry picture. So to me for the price these work great when used as they were meant to be used. They give you proper magnification and if you want to take a picture of what you are viewing you will get that picture but remember the size of the picture depends on the camera magnification not the binoculars magnification and picture quality is going to depend on how steady the binoculars are when you take that picture. Don't blame a product when you don't understand how it works.

I've been wanting one of these for a long time, but wanted on with good resolution. This one fills the bill. There are many menu options and it takes a little time to get to them all, but well worth the effort. I would recommend these to anyone who wants a quality binocular camera.
