The Tissot Heritage Visodate Automatic watch style is based upon the original 1957 model. The watch maintains it's simple retro design and has an expensive and elegant charm. It is a classy watch that you can wear for formal occasions or with T-shirt and jeans.

Dial
The dial of the watch is protected by a slightly domed sapphire crystal. The sapphire crystal does a good job of reflecting the glare in certain lighting situations. The crystal has a small raised edge which looks sharp and in keeping with the rest of the watch.

The hands are slightly curved which allows them to reflect light back for easy visibility. All hour markings are in stainless steel and feature no luminous paint. The second hand stretches to the edge of the dial and has a nice tear shaped counter balance on the other end.

The addition of both day and date wheels means this watch is designed for business. The date window is boxed with a chrome window that follows suit with the glossy stainless steel on the case.

Case
The case has a diameter of 40mm and has a highly polished finish. There is no brushed stainless steel on this watch. The high polish of the watch unfortunately leaves it vulnerable to fingerprints, which could bug some wearers. The case is quite easy to scratch, lots of care needs to be taken whilst wearing this watch. The case has some lovely curves to it, a really smooth looking design.

The watch features a see-through case-back allowing a view to the signed and decorated movement. The watch features a press in case-back which looks sleek but offers little to no protection against water. A screw down case-back would have been a much welcomed addition. Keep this watch away from water.

The case features a thin crown at the 3 o'clock position. The crown has an embossed 'T' and uses the same retro font that was used on the original 1957 Visodate model.

Movement
The watch features a Swiss ETA 2836 movement that beats at 28,000 vibrations per hour. The accuracy of the watch out of the box is about -/+ 15 day. Fortunately, any watchmaker with a little experience should be able to regulate the movement and make it more accurate. The movement features both hacking and hand winding capabilities.

Band
The watch comes with a 20mm wide black leather band that features a stamped crocodile pattern, fine black edge stitching, and a stainless steel deployant clasp that is engraved with the Tissot logo.

Review Conclusion
The Tissot Heritage Visodate is a fantastic watch for the money. The quality and finish is close to perfection. The timeless styling makes it a perfect timepiece for any man. This sleek watch is a great investment and it will look good on your wrist for many years to come.

I am no watch expert and have only owned two watches from Tissot with this being my first automatic watch. I had a very good experience with this brand in terms of reliability, design and function and decided to go ahead with this one. It features an ETA 2836-2 automatic movement encased in stainless steel and a concave sapphire glass with a display back cover also made of sapphire. Case is water resistant up to 30m (which to me is safe enough to use in the rain and gentle rinsing). Dial is beautiful in its simple design that features a day/date function. It has NO superluminova which means it does not glow in the dark so reading the time can be a bit hard in dark places. It comes with a leather strap using the double-clasp function which I am quite a fan of. There is no need to buckle with this design and you only need to adjust the length once and just click it on each time you put it on. Another good feature of this double clasp design is that it prevents pickpockets from slipping your watch out of your wrist. This watch has to be pulled out through your hands to be removed much like those watches with stainless steel bracelet.

Another merit of this watch is the day/date function which does not gradually change to the next day/date when approaching midnight. It changes in an instant with a click as the time passes midnight. You also have the option of choosing two types of day format (1MON,2TUE,3WED) OR (MON,TUE,WED). SUN/7SUN is impressed in red.

Accuracy of this mechanical movement after a week of use has no noticeable anomaly. It checks in time with my digital watches and my watch running on quartz. It is self-winding which means you do not have to wind the watch manually so long as you wear it for about 4-8hrs a day. You can manually wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise. Power reserve is at least 40 hours or over 2 days.

It looks best as a dress watch but personally I feel it goes well with any attire because of the black dial and strap.

Lastly, the most beautiful fact about this watch is the price. Design, quality and reliability you get from this watch given the price you pay is a bargain. I am talking about similar standards in these areas that you get from more expensive brands like Hamilton, Ball or IWC. You merely pay more for those brands for reputation, COSC certified movements etc. Tissot me is a dark horse or a hidden gem. I got it off an Amazon reseller at a lower price because it does not come with a Tissot International warranty. The warranty comes from the sellers themselves. If you don't mind that (personally I don't because I never used the warranty for my previous Tissot watch), buying from Amazon is no different from a Tissot AD. I have confidence that the watch is authentic and brand new and it is up to you to make that choice. This watch will not disappoint and I am still finding a reason not to like it.

Tissot makes nice, mid-priced watches: they are good for everyday wear.
The Visodate watch is a large but retro design in stainless steel with a black face, simple hands and stick markers for the hours. The time is easy to read but the dial is not luminous, so it needs some light to read it. The second hand sweeps around in small, sub-second increments, typical of an automatic mechanism.
The watch is automatic: 10 turns gets it started, then normal wear or a winding box will keep it running. The feel of the winding mechanism is best described as mechanical: it is not silky like some of the more expensive watches, but it does have a gratifying feel to it.
There are three crown positions, one to wind or for normal operation, and one to set the date and day of the week, and one to set the time. The date is set by turning one direction, the day of the week is set by turning the other direction. The days of the week on the US version are displayed either as the first three letters of the day or a number, 1 though 7 followed by a three letter abbreviation for the day. "SUN" is and "7SUN" are in red. (Note that the watch follows the Monday as the first day of the week convention found in most countries, but less common in the USA.)
The time setting position is available when the crown is pulled fully out. This also stops the second hand so that the seconds can be synchronized.
The front and back are stated to be sapphire, and the back is visible with a nice view of the works from the rear. The case is bright stainless: very shiny.
The watch band is textured black leather with a clasp mechanism: you need to experiment with getting it the right length for your wrist, but once it is set up, you remove the watch by unsnapping the two sides of the clasp rather than opening a buckle. This could help the band last longer as you are not pulling it through a buckle every time you put the watch on. The material is a satin-finished leather, not shiny, but I supposed it could be buffed up if you prefer that look.
Although the watch is large, it is not particularly heavy.
Although the watch is water resistant to 3 bar, it doesn't have a screw-down crown, so it probably is not wise to get the watch wet too often, especially after you've had it for a while.
The watch comes in a nice box that looks like books on the bookshelf. In fact, a couple of books are included with the watch: a short book on the history of the Tissot company and a catalog of watches from which you you can enjoy selecting your next watch. Inside the box the watch is packed in a compartment with two side compartments, one with the international warranty information and warranty card, and the other with the instructions.
My purchase was made from a vendor that offers their own warranty rather than the Tissot US warranty. It is a little cheaper to buy this way, but if anything should go wrong, I have to send it to the people I bought it from rather than the authorized Tissot service center for warranty repairs. For non-warranty work, I can send it to Tissot, of course. I can't comment on which is better, to save a little money or to have the Tissot warranty. I don't mind living a little dangerously myself. But the watch I received was new, factory fresh, with the factory applied vinyl protectors still in place.

Wow. This watch is gorgeous. This is my first mechanical watch, and I am diggin' it! Its pretty heavy and somewhat bulky - you definitely know its on your wrist - but its not over the top. Love that red Sunday. My only tiny complaint is that I'm not crazy about the strap - I don't like the buckle mechanism, its a struggle to get it over my hand, and it just doesn't feel like the quality of the strap is quite up to the same standards as the watch. Its looks ok, it just doesn't have the wow factor that the rest of the watch has. Overall, this is a great watch, especially for under $500!

I have a friend who owns a Tissot touch. He had great things to say about Tissot brand so I looked into it. I wear suits at work so I wanted a leather band elegant looking watch. I saw the Tissot Visodate and loved how it looked. I just received the watch and it is Awesome!! The leather bands feel great on my wrist and I love the locking device on the bands. The face is big and clear to read. This watch can be worn casual as well and since it's automatic I will be wearing this one the most! Awesome watch will recommend to anyone who asks me!!

Perfect watch (with cert), keeps great time and the styling is beautiful. For this price, it's hard to find something so gorgeous and functional as this automatic.

Like many lower end automatics, however, I do find that you really do have to wear this each and every day to keep it moving without hiccups, but that's fair and as long as you know that going in, you'll be in love.

Super fast shipping, great answers to all my questions (first time online watch buyer, so I was a little nervous), and have worn this thing nearly everyday in the several months I've owned it now.

Really, really lovely.
I expected a lot from this watch as I had fallen in love with all the photos I had seen. While the larger than expected size (mostly thickness) took a little getting used to, I was happy that I could still very easily button shirt cuffs.
Also the band closure took a bit of getting used to but once I found that you simply pull the end out through the loop and tug on the 'buckle', it opens really easily (but not so easily to be a problem).

Over all, very, very excited and pleased with my first Tissot. It certainly won't be my last.

This is my 2nd automatic Tissot watch, these watches run well and look great. The band was easy to adjust as well as the day/date.

The only con is that the watch band I received does not look like the picture. The band I received looks like cheap shiny leather, its very stiff and uncomfortable on my wrist. I'm going back to Tissot to see if I can purchase a more quality band for this watch.
