Years ago I bought a pleated satin clutch by La Regale at an outlet store. I've loved it but it's now just too small to hold the modern woman's cash, various cards (credit, debit, insurance, AAA...), a minimum of grooming supplies, and a small cell phone. It was time to replace it with something a bit bigger. This bag is a couple of inches longer but is still nicely sized for dressy occasions. The quality seems a bit flimsy for the price--in spite of the label that says "Hand Made in China"--but it's good looking and the ornament on the front gives it some sparkle.
It came boxed, wrapped in tissue, and with the glittery ornament protected by a thin square of foam. There's a pocket on the inside of the clutch (just visible in the photo showing the La Regale label, which is attached to the front of the pocket) that could be used to hold a few credit cards and/or some folded bills; it's too small to hold anything else. The strap is a silky, round, braided cord attached inside the bag, and can go over your shoulder or stash unobtrusively inside the bag. The strap is a generous length and the bag comes to low hip on me when it's on my shoulder. Everything I need for an elegant evening can fit inside and still close the bag without forcing: slender satin envelope pouch I use for my cash and cards (taken out of my full-size wallet, which would never fit in an evening bag); contact lens supplies; small cell phone; eyeglasses wrapped in a cleaning cloth. My eyeglass case wouldn't fit, but at least my husband won't have to carry my phone in his pocket anymore. This bag is probably as good as I'm going to find for the price. If it lasts as many years as the previous bag, I'll be happy.
