These headphones have done the job for me. I record my music, and other audio, through my laptop via audibox with these JVCs plugged in. I have had zero complaints thus far.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
One review on here talks about how these headphones are uncomfortable on the top of your head. I have only experienced this once and quickly found a way around it. I did not wallow over ways to convince people to not get them.

Another review states the cords are attached to both ears. Oh well. It doesn't really get in the way. Even if I am holding a guitar or a cello while recording, the cord has never been a real issue.

It would be a slightly better product if the cord was a little longer. Not a big deal though as I have an extension cord if I really need it.

Another complaint I heard is a loud wind-like screech depending on where you are. If I am in my bedroom with the AC running and a white noise generator going, I can hear a pitch shift dependent on where I am looking in the room. Easy to tune out and doesn't bother sound quality. I bring these with me to my college campus all the time and will occasionally walk around with them on. While on campus I have not heard this wind sound at all. Ever. This has only happened, again, when I am in my room with AC & white noise.

Over all music quality is good no matter what I've played through them. The bass is heavy, which is good for when you need the bass. The highs sound better than any other headset I have ever owned, even when I paid more money for them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
At this point, I feel like I may not ever want noise-cancelling headphones either. If I am listening to music with these headphones on, the background is literally drowned out without me having to crank the volume up (Example: If I am listening through my laptop with volume at 24% and my winamp volume below 40%, I only hear my music. People have to be serious about getting my attention to overwhelm the JVCs).

For $37 you are getting a product that rivals noise cancelling headphones and may make you never try to spend that much money.

I own a recording studio, and I have dealt with every kind of headphone on the planet it seems. I got these for free from a friend, and they really sound pretty good. I noticed that when I cupped my hands over the bass ports, the sound became a lot more full... So I grabbed my trusty roll of gaff tape, and taped over the bottom half of the outside of the ear cup.. They sound a MILLION times better now.. I'd recommend doing the same thing if you own a pair... They are WELL worth the money, and easily repaired should you accidently sit or step on them...

Got my XX headphones for graduation a few weeks ago and love them. These are great headphones if you listen to tracks with LOTS of BASS! I mostly listen to hip hop and these can handle anything I throw at them. I'm listening to some Black Eyed Peas right now and still can't believe how loud I can go without any distorion. The 50mm drivers definitely KICK! I don't even touch my IEM's anymore and now my buddy is all over them too.
They are built tough and look it. Camo on the headband and a cool rivet design on the cans. The ear cushions have memory foam and block out everything. Definitely the best headphones for deep bass at this price..

I just got these yesterday but they perform so well i couldn't resist writing a review for them already. I owned a pair of Sennheiser Hd 202's which were amazing as well until i killed the cable by stepping on it to many times. I was going to buy another pair but i wanted something with a lil bit more controlled bass and something that looked a lil bit more aggressive. I'll tell you the 50.00 MM drivers are insanely POWERFUL in bass. My 202's were amazing but at times when i threw something really heavy at them you could tell they were trying pretty well and these can handle all of those songs without that trying sound. I mean everything is so clear and controlled its amazing! Also these headphones cups when you see them in person they are massive which is great. I opened the package and i was Omg these are huge. Also calling all Dubstep, house, and any other electronic music lovers, for these far surpass bass standards. Trust me if you like heavy bass and powerful punch this is your headphone. Only 2 cons for me and that is a short cable, and sound leakage. I bought an 15ft extension 3.5 mm cable so this isnt a problem for me but if you want to walk around with them on connected to your mixer or computer you will need it. And I knew this ahead of time but even at low to medium volumes it leaks sound. Mainly because of the bass port which opens up your sound to the world. BUT at medium volumes its barely noticeable unless your in a very quiet room. High volumes it does leak sound but out in the open people will probably wont notice cause of the noise of the street or people talking. besides that the headphones are your bass companion and offer pretty nice quality music without bass. The only reason i bought these was because i own the XX 10.00 MM earbuds and know what JVC can achieve. Im proud to be a fan of this line because I didnt buy into those $400 dollar hype headphones which really these have the same quality and surpass most of them. Comfortable to wear, Great design, Nice red cable, controlled high mids and lows, and NO distortion when headroom is very low. Trust me your gonna be making the right choice buying these.

Alright guys.
Firstly, i am 17 years of age so i have virtually no experience with true bass and clarity of sound.
But i love these headphones. They're cute, not too bulky, and sound amazing.
They're much bigger than i thought they would be!
I plan on posting pictures because personally, i like seeing what i plan to buy before i actually buy it. For $35, these are absolutely perfect for both boys and girls.

As an owner of numerous headphones, these are among my very favorites. I was hoping for great bass without sacrificing the rest of the sound spectrum. These headphones deliver. To my ears they are better than my Beats, without having to artificially amplify anything. The bass response is outstanding, yet the midrange and treble are also very good. They are a bit large and bulky but they turn out to be very comfortable. The only con I can think of is that I would prefer to have one cord coming off the left side rather than two cords, and it would be nice if the cord was replaceable. However I will say that the rubber coating on the cord is nice and silent and looks quite durable. For the price I don't think these can be beat, and their performance rivals headphones costing 6 times as much.

I am somewhat of a Bass head. I like metal the most but have found a new love in Dubstep and have been looking for headphones that work well with that genre and these shine. I have purchased several bass heavy headphones and these are my favorite so far. The base is a nice balance of the low and deep rumbling with a solid kick or punch. They do a good job of producing that sensation of the air around your ears feeling thicker due to the sheer amount of bass and the first time I tried these headphones on was the first time I had ever heard a set of headphones do that to such an extent and I burst out laughing in amazement.

Like any bass heavy headphone the mids and highs are not going to be as upfront as they could be. They seem slightly recessed which is common but I don't think you are buying these to listen to classical anyway. For metal and rock they are fine but they really shine with techno type music that focuses on the lower end like House or as I said before Dubstep.

Isolation is decent. With headphones on they muffle outside noise and once you turn the music on the bass is so thick and wonderful you can't hear anything around you. I would guess they leak very little noise because when I have the headphones at a normal listening level or several notches above and place each cup on my cheek I can not hear any music from them and when you hold the cups together they are quiet as well.

They are made of plastic but they feel much more solid than many other plastic only headphones I have. The cable is a nice length and reinforced at all the places there is a connection. The cushion on the headband seems durable and they have enough force to stay in place without causing a headache. The pads themselves are fake leather but it is the thicker and nicer kind. The only con would be the thickness of the padding. There is a dense foam ring on the inside attached to the cover over the driver and after about an hour it starts to bother me a little on my ear cartilage. To fix this I found a roll of foam tape in the house and folded the tape in half so the sticky side adhered together, then I stuffed the tape along the inside lip of the pad. It works perfectly. It lifted the pads and made them much deeper and my ear no longer touches the driver. I can listen to them for hours now with no ear fatigue at all and it didn't change the sound. People do similar mods like this all the time for many different brands of headphones when the padding is less than perfect so it is not really a big deal.

I ordered a set of Audio Technica ATH 700 MK2s and a set of Sony XB500 but they have not come in yet. The Audio Technica cost 3x as much but the XB500s are in the same price rage. I will update this review with how these compare when they come in. I don't know what else to say except that I would recommend them and I am thinking about purchasing a second set for safe keeping.

P.S. I use a portable amp with all my headphones. These sound fine without one but if you don't have a portable amp you really don't know what you are missing. I use the Fiio E11 and keep the gain on high and the EQ on 2 for bass boost. Pair that with a LOD and an iPod with bass boost turned on and it will be so thick you can swim in it.

For the money, as the reviews have said, this pair of Headphones is awesome. As I'm sure you are doing right now, I looked deep into the reviews of each pair of headphones I was considering, and went with these. Haven't even thought that I should have gone with another pair. Tough, super bassy and yet without being overwhelming. The packaging is a pain in the butt, but once you get that open. The only gripe would be that the chord is a little short for stereo headphones which I thought these were. But upon further thought they are meant to be worn in public, so I guess the chord would be the right length to reach into a pocket holding an iphone or ipod. The camouflage isn't really that noticeable, and the colors are very muted that it really doesn't make a difference. I read a review that these are trying to be "urban". If by urban you mean durable and strong while still sounding awesome, then yep, Urban hits the nail right on the head.

Simply, amazed. I am not a big time producer, but I can say right now, that this Headphone certainly gives a kick! I produce music using FL Studio, and I love making Trap beats. With this headphone, I was able to provide my songs with that hard bass that every Trap beat should have! I was astonished listening, with this headphone, of how clear it is and how loud the song can go without distortion. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who loves bass!

First off, I can say about after a week of using the JVC Xtreme Xplosive HA-M5X Around Ear Headphones...they are amazing!! These things are the best bang for your buck, and by that I mean that for the price range that its located in, you can't really find a better quality headset. These things have 50mm driver units, some of the $100 headphones don't even have 40mm. The bass on these things is also amazing, for all genres of music, especially dubstep. It is a very comfortable build, but the top head padding could be made better, you might not like it for a couple days while using it, but after a while you'll get use to it and will barely even know its on your head. The ear cushions are made of extremely comfortable memory foam that will not bother you. I would not recommend this product for like a recording studio or anything like that because if you are looking to wear these things around your neck or anything along those lines, it will not work and become very uncomfortable because the ear pads a formed to fit your head one way, not multiple. They are made of very durable and rugged plastic that will not be breaking on you at anytime, also the headphone wire is twice as thick as other headphones and will not break or fray as easy as other ones. If you are looking for sub-$100 headphones, definitely put the JVC Xtreme Xplosive HA-M5X Around Ear Headphones at the top of your list.
