We bought this toy as a "diaper bag toy". It is distracting long enough for my husband and I to go out to eat at a restaurant with my two year old. She loves drawing and then watching her work disappear. My only complaint is that the "pen" leaks and easily falls out of the holder. What I do is put the pen in a ziplock bag and store it inside of the AquaDoodle when it is folded shut. It never gets lost and doesn't leak all over the diaper bag. I would recommend this toy with this simple modification.

My almost-6 year old son uses his Aquadoodle portable to practice his writing. It is a great tool to use for supplementing reading and writing lessons in school. Now my 9 year old likes to use it to practice for his weekly spelling tests. In our home, this is not a toy; it is used for homework and sight word reinforcement.

This is a great product and kept my toddler entertained (16 months) on a plane, in restaurants and pretty much anywhere we needed it during a recent family trip. The older kids liked it too! I say skip getting the regular Aquadoodle at all and only do this one since it has a slimmer profile, 2 pages for coloring each a different color AND is easily portable.

write on these, I find the aqua-doodle to be another great product along with magna doodles, dry-erase boards, chalk boards to get those preschoolers interested in writing.

Pro: no mess

con: Once it is wet, it takes a little bit to dry, maybe 3o minutes, so unlike the magna doodle, you can't just erase your work and immidiatly start over, But it is a nice change of pace from pencil and paper.

I would recommend this for a child that is starting to work on writting and drawing. Draw a face or write some letters, sound out words, write their name.

fun to trace their hand and then let them try to color it in.

try and trace a toy or shape of an object.

This provided at least an hour of fun on the airplane! It is great, you can color and draw without the mess. The only problem is if the pen leaks there is a water mark that stays forever.

Bought this as a no mess solution to letting a child scribble and draw.

Spent quite a while looking through the description and reviews before deciding to buy this as I couldn't tell for sure from the description whether this had the potential to be messy but decided to just take the plunge a buy it. So, if like me, you are wondering the same - the "pen" is basically an empty tube you fill with water and the tip allows the water to "wet" the drawing surface, which changes to either blue or red (depending on which page, one is red, the other blue) when wet and back to white again when it dries up.

I previously purchased the larger Aquadoodle that lays on the floor. Hated it. Once it got wet you couldn't use it again (till it dried). So the girls could only draw one picture on it. You would have to hang it to dry and sometimes would take a whole day to dry or dry overnight. This travel size one is much better. Its plenty big enough to draw on and it dries very fast. My girl can draw all over and it and then just wait a few short minutes and its dry and ready for the next drawings.

My daughter LOVES the aquadoodle. It was one of the most useful toys during our last flight. It kept her entertained for a long time. She is 18 months old. I now keep it in her diaper bag so it comes with us whenever we go.

I bought this toy for my daughter, she loves to draw but sometimes not just on paper like she is suppose to. This product uses water in the marker, which is refillable, so even if she tries to draw elsewhere, it will not make a mess. The lines that show up on the pad are very dark and fade only after a little while so it is a fun thing to play with when you want to just make some quick silly drawings to make each other laugh and have a good time.
