. We own many carriers, original Bjorn, Bjorn active, beco butterfly , The Boba, the latter has been my go to carrier for months, it's simple and provided sufficient support, however the bulk of the weight still seems to be on my shoulders, making my weekend outings very unbearable. I have rush home cringing from the cramping muscles .
I seem to be on an endless mission to find the perfect carrier, and every few months a new carrier comes out that screams" you need Me!!". I've considered the Bjorn Miracle, the Britax, the Baby Hawk oh Snap, and finally settled on the Onya.
The price isn't cheap, but we Moms make our carriers pay. Somedays I carry my son for 4 to 5 hrs straight. My perfect carrier must be waterproof, large enough to keep my growing boy from falling out, have pockets for metrocard, pockets for wallet, for diapers and some wipes. Have a D ring for my keys, large fitted hood for all the elements.
LoL, that is what the Onya outback offers. Then there is still the conversion into a baby seat. The concept is simple. Strap the carrier onto any chair with a backing, pull out the seating from its own zippered pocket adjust and snap your child in. Awesome!!!
My package came in yesterday. I've tried this on both my boys..my oldest is 5, weights 45lbs. The little guy is 25lbs. It was comfortable for them as it was for me. I carried my little one today for 2 hrs and my shoulders are fine. I hardly feel any weight. No complaints.....I feel we have invested wisely.

we have three soft structured baby carriers - beco butterfly II & ergo are the other two - and i had my eye on this one for a while.
all our carriers were great for a specific period of our baby's life. the beco butterfly is wonderful for a newborn infant and we love the way our son was snuggled in it and how we can change who carries him without taking him out of the carrier. the cotton is supersoft and it's a very well made carrier. unfortunately it doesn't have any pockets.
the ergo is worth its reputation as probably the best and most versatile carrier out there. the shoulder straps are super-padded and i can carry my little one around for a long time. i like that he can see everything coz of the lower back. what i didn't like is that the buckles for the shoulder straps are pretty high and so the straps make it difficult for my baby to stretch his arms comfortably.
the onya doesn't have that problem. the buckles are very low and the child has lots of room. the waist belt must be the most comfortable out there, it's wonderfully sturdy. the shoulder straps are still a little stiff and probably need to be broken in. the fabric is very soft and breathable. the leg openings are also padded - why did none of the other carrier manufacturers ever think of that? the back is very high, my one year old can just about look over it. for a younger baby this might be a little boring, but it also means excellent head support. the whole carrier feels roomy and wide and therefore seems to distribute the baby's weight perfectly, even better than in the other carriers. i carried my son around for 3 hours the first time without getting tired.
throw in the mix that the onya is waterproof, has a built-in seat (another great idea!) and also looks really great. fabulous carrier!!!

Great for our little family of travelers, especially when getting about at airports, boarding planes with carry on luggage or visiting places that did not allow strollers / unsuitable for strollers. Its also great to have my hands free doing chores around the house or managing the other kids etc.

Super comfortable to wear, the shoulder straps are well padded, and I liked having the option to wear the shoulder straps criss-cross or straight. I have used this a handful of times for my nearly 3 month old who is a big baby (now 8kg and growing!) and can already hold his head up - but it does advise you use this from 4 months.

Allows baby to sit 'frog-legged' position, which is how they should naturally sit - I've tried other carriers with a crotch so narrow making the babies legs dangle.

Built in 'high chair' is very useful.

Has a hood for sun protection is a bonus - when living in the desert, and a couple small zip pockets for keys & cash.

I like the neutral colour (not too 'girly' looking for husband to wear, lol) and its very easy to clean.

On the expensive side, but its a good quality product overall.

Had I written this before my girl hit 25 pounds and needed to be carried in the back carry, I would have given this carrier 10 stars. I was a total Onya evangelist. Convinced several friends to get one. The chair, the back height, the cross back option, the pocketsf -- all of it was so lovely -- in the front carry. In the back carry position, the padded waist does not extend past the sides of my waist (I am a size 20 women's), so the strap folds and binds and cuts into my belly fat really uncomfortably -- no matter where I put it -- high on my waist or low on my waist. Such a disappointment. It's true that even in the front carry, this carrier gave me rolls at the waist, but it wasn't uncomfortable, so it didn't bother me. I wrote the company about the problem and hopefully they'll redesign the waist in the future -- extend the padded waist strap a bit more. The only carrier I've found that is comfortable and non-binding in the back carry position is the Tula. So, if you carry any fat around your middle, and want to use this carrier in a back carry position, you may want to skip on this one.

I had to return this product because the fabric on the shoulder straps was way too abrasive. I tested it out with my kids while I was wearing a tank top. Even in that short time my shoulders were raw. I've ordered the Onya Baby Cruiser because I am hoping the fabric is softer.

Other than that, it would probably be a great carrier for someone who doesn't wear tank tops. The kids loved riding around the house in it. Other than the shoulder straps, this was a very comfortable carrier and very easy to get the kids into. They just hopped on my back and I pulled up the straps over them. Easy peasy.

Update: The Onya Cruiser is much, much more comfortable. My husband used it with our 2 year old, walking at least a couple of miles on a warm day, and it was great.

i love how the mesh material doesn't cause my baby to sweat so much when in it, but i have a big problem with how the mesh irritates my baby's face, arms, legs, and whatever it brushes against. it's quite abrasive, really.

another thing to note is the buckle placement on the adult's waist/hip part. i'm not sure if it's just me, but my baby's knee seems to hit or rub against it all the time.

otherwise, i think it's a great carrier.

I really wanted to like this carrier. It fit but didn't feel comfortable. I just needed another inch in my waist to feel comfortable. My husband is bigger guy too and he wasn't able to use it at all. I think the carrier itself was very sturdy and comfortable had it fit in the waist so I can't give it bad reviews. I just don't think this is the carrier if you are plus size

My husband and I tried out this pack over the weekend for an upcoming trip with our 25 pound, 14 month old son. I was drawn to the pack for the features - easily cleanable, breathable material, baby seat. However, I was somewhat disappointed in the comfort of carrier. My son kept trying to escape as he really did not like the positioning of his arms (he's used to being in a carrier as I have used one with him since he was a newborn - he never tried to wiggle out of our Boba or Beco). My husband and I are both on the smaller side, but by no means are we super skinny (I'm 5'6" and 135 lbs); however, we found it difficult to get the pack positioned comfortably as it would not tighten enough. I also did not feel that it distributed the weight very well compared to others I've used. Overall, it may be a better pack for a bigger baby and possibly bigger parents. It would also be good for shorter trips, but certainly not for all day, which is what we would need it for.

I'm torn on this carrier. I really want to love it, but it has some flaws. At 1 year old, it's still too big for my little one. The top comes up to the base of her head and she can't see out well. If all your kiddo does is sleep while baby wearing, not a problem. I liked the mesh material in hopes it would be cooler than other carriers, but we both still sweat in it. The mesh is also quite scratchy against my skin if I'm wearing a tank top. Maybe it will soften the more I wash it? I do love that I can actually do a high back carry. I've only used the chair harness once, it's a feature that I just don't think will be used enough to be worth the bulkiness it adds. I'm still using it every day in liu of my ergo in hopes that it will break in and soften up.

I love my Onya baby carrier! I use it for my almost 4 yr old and my just turned 2 year old. I have had it for 2 years and I use it all the time. Even when we have a stroller I put my Onya in the bottom, because I always end up using it. When I am out and one of my little ones gets tired I put them in and they are a sleep shortly after. I love that I can wear them on my front or my back. Plus this carrier never causes me and fatigue or pain. I have also used it as a highchair type seat when out and it worked great.
