on January 3, 2013
Item was supposed to arrive by 31 Dec 2012 but did not arrive until 3 Jan 2013 which normally would not have been bad except I had to go on an extensive work assignment 3 states away so I was not able to determine the fit and usage of the lift recliner for the recipient. The person this was ordered for is 6 ft tall so I was concerned if it would be high enough for him to rest his head. After it was delivered today and he got it set up he said that he is not able to rest his head when in the recliner. Later this month after some usage of the recliner I should be able to provide a more comprehensive update. At this point I would say be cautious about ordering for a tall individual. I wish that I could have read a review on all of the lift recliners before placing my order as I saw another recliner that the customer was not satisfied because the recliner ordered after arrival it was discovered more suitable for a tall person. This recliner is of a very high quality and we do not plan to sent it back but are still looking for one that is affordable for a tall person that likes to sit with his two small dogs. This one does not have enough room in the seat area for that even if the back was higher.
Update, I have now tried out the recliner and observed my family member in the recliner. The recliner is too small for someone 6 ft tall but at slighly over 5 ft it fits me nicely. It appears to be made of quality materials, the electronics work very smoothly, the chair will lift me pretty much from a sitting position to an upright standing position, and it has a very nice contemporary design. I have increased my rating of this product to 5 stars and cosidered it my problem that I did not make sure this chair was suitable for someone tall. We will be purchaseing another lift chair in the future for my family member but will probably do it from a local store instead of ordering on-line.
Update- May 2015, Update, we placed this recliner in our fifth wheel. January of this year we purchased a $2,000 lift chair from a local store for my husband. After only three months the $2K chair made a loud popping noise stopped working and by the way we could not get it in leather like this chair. This chair the leather is firm so if you want to sink into a chair this is not the one. My husband is 6', his feet hang all the way off the foot rest, his head does not go back far enough (restricted head movements on his part) to rest on the back (remedied this with a pillow). This chair is quiet and now our "go to backup chair" while we had to pay transport costs for the $2K chair to be sent back to the local store for repair even though under warranty. The styling of this chair is contemporary and may not be for everyone. Keep in mind when buying a lift chair that sometimes a backup is needed as in our case so be sure you have plan B on any lift chair that you purchase. This chair is in two pieces fairly easy to assemble and the back has rollers to help with movement. We have ours plugged into a battery backup pack in case of a power failure. Given our experience, I would purchase this chair again.
