Only had this jacket a few days and so far loving it. Great build quality, looks good, and so far has performed well. I cant really comment too much since I only had it a few days but you can see from the other reviews how good of a jacket this is. I mainly wrote this review to help people with the sizing. Im 6' 185 pounds with a fairly athletic build 42" chest and 34" waist. After looking at the sizing chart it seemed like a medium would be skin tight and the large would just be a little loose. I ordered a large and in actuality this thing was huge, just too big everywhere, shoulders, sleeves, waist, and overall length. I ended up returning it (Love Amazon BTW)and getting a medium. For the most part it fits well but is a little snug in the shoulders and chest. Hopefully this helps as a baseline for what size someone would need.

I find that different brands of jackets have different cuts and that Marmot is one that just fits me well.

The things I like about this jacket:

1) Water resistance. Because it rains a lot here, the ability to shed water is very important. Water just beads up on it and after I get under cover I just shake it off or brush the water off with my hands.

2) Wind resistance. It's good against high winds and there's a hem cord I can cinch to pull in the bottom of the jacket to prevent cold air from getting in.

3) Velcro cuffs. Keeps cuffs out of the way when I'm doing stuff.

4) Zipped pockets. Prevents stuff from falling out.

5) Excellent mobility. The fabric was pretty stiff for the first few times I wore it and I was afraid it would stay that way. But after wearing it for a few months the fabric is now quite flexible and soft and I can move easily.

Overall, it's a great jacket. The outer shell is wind/water resistant, there is a thin fabric lining inside that keeps it warm and it's cut well so that it doesn't constrain my movements. It's definitely well worth the money.

This is a great softshell! I'm average build, 5'9", 165 pounds, shirt size is 16-16.5/34. I don't like baggy clothes, I prefer a fitted, stylish look. I chose a Large in this jacket so I could layer a base layer, light flannel, or sweater underneath and it's perfect. I think if I had gone with a Medium it would've fit perfectly, but only with a base layer or shirt, no flannel or sweater. This is going to be my go to spring and fall jacket, and will also accompany me to Big Island for star gazing on Mauna Kea (and I heard mornings and nights can be a little cool). It's compact, just like my Precip rain jacket I can fold this jacket down to the size of a magazine (albeit thicker) and stow in my laptop bag, which is perfect for a train commuter like me. I got the Cobalt Blue because the color really stands out (there's a bazillion black softshells walking around Denver) and it was on sale, but I'll also be getting a black one for nights out. I didn't purchase this direct from Amazon but did use one of their sellers. While comparing prices on Amazon I clicked on a seller's name (Summit Hut) and found the jacket on sale on their site for $99!

Never worn a jacket that garnered more comments. I hardly go a day that someone doesn't say something about it.

It's a shell, so it's warm, but not great on a windy, cold day - you'll still feel a chill. I'm a fan of Marmot - everything screams excellence and quality in it's appearance and design. It's comfortable, a little stiff at first, but has loosened up after a few weeks of wear.

I went with a small - 5' 8", 150 lbs and love it. But I enjoy a more tailored fit.

A fun bonus is an iPhone fits perfectly in the upper sleeve pocket.

water resistant, windproof, light, warm...best all-around jacket I own. I would rather wear this in freezing temps over a sweater than my thick pea coat. It blocks the air and keeps core warm.

Good, basic jacket. Excellent at cutting wind, repelling rain and fits nicely. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight jacket.

I bought a Gravity last winter and love it! I got the light/dark gray color combination & think it's a beautiful jacket. It is fairly warm & does good as a wind blocker. The water durable water repellent finish is excellent, IMO, Marmot has the best DWR finish, (vs my Spyder, North Face & Columbia jackets). I even had a bleach accident in my car that ended up ruining several shirts & also got on the jacket but thankfully it just beaded up & rolled off & did no damage.

Worn with light gloves & a beanie, I am comfortable down to about 30° F , your results may vary. I wore it for a 3-4 hour hike in the mountains & stayed dry in a steady drizzle/light rain but if it's raining hard you will get wet eventually. Compared to my NF Apex Bionic it seems a little thicker/heavier which I prefer & it fits me better. The sleeves are a little long for me but that's my only complaint.

Overall I love the jacket & wish they still offered the Super Gravity version with a hood. But love the color & think the jacket looks very sleek & professional. Seems like everyone & their mother has an Apex Bionic; this jacket is much more unique & the quality is at least equal if not better. This is a great jacket for Denver Fall & Spring seasons, highly recommend.
