This is a great bow tie, no need to spend extra money.

Pros:

1. Makes a beautiful knot.

2. Easy to tie.

3. (Neutral) Very thin material, thinner than average. If you tighten the knot hard, the knot will be very small.

4. Very silk-like. I certainly couldn't distinguish this from real silk.

5. Moderately shiny satin finish.

6. Stays neat for hours, even if you move around. This is a side effect of being silk-like, because the fabric has just the right amount of stickiness.

Cons:

7. This tie is NOT suitable for neck size 14 inches or 14.5 inches. My neck is 15 inches and the smallest setting on this adjustable tie is arguably still too large. The result is a larger bow. If possible, I would tighten this another 0.5 or 1 inch.

Buyers need to beware if they are purchasing this in BURGUNDY WINE color. I does not match the picture at all (see attachment). If you are purchasing this for the Eleventh Doctor's costume you will be disappointed.

The bow tie also has a very polyester feel to it, and is super slippery. I can't get a good looking knot with the standard bow tie knot (keeps slipping). I had to go and learn a different knot, but after I did that it looked pretty good.

The tie sizing fits, on the biggest setting, my 15-16" neck fine. I don't think I'd recommend it for anything larger though.

The only reason this gets two stars is because of the awesome customer service provide by the company selling (utopia something).

Please like this if you found it helpful so others can see.

This is a nice bowtie for someone (like me) just starting to wear bow ties. The only thing is that check your neck size when you get it, I have the adjustable length on this set to the max and it's a bit tight. Good tie though!

The description says the tie adjusts for up to a 19 inch neck. It adjusts closer to a max of 17 inch only if you don't hook into the last slot. Other than that, the tie is what I expected for the price.

The "burnt orange" is not really a burnt orange, but more bright orange. Does not do me any good for supporting UT. The quality of the tie is fine though.

Has an adjustable back (NOT a strap- more like a cloth peg system) but is an odd fabric that is very stiff. Looks decent, not the greatest but an acceptable tie

There is no silk or satin in this tie. It is all microfiber. I did not realize that self-tie bow ties have adjustments on the back. That is my fault, not the seller's. But seriously, wearing a self-tie bow tie is so cool.

When this tie came today,10/15/14, I was truly impressed. Two different orders from two different merchants in China and Shanghai, came in less than two weeks. The only issue with this tie is that, just like the other inexpensive bowtie from China, the bow when tied, is less wide than my other bowties. I really like the fabric. At first I was apprehensive about microfiber, but it has a silky quality, maybe just a tiny bit shinier. I like it, other than the narrowness, so I'm sure I'll wear it occasionally. It's more of a meduim brown than a dark brown, which is better, if only it was a little wider.....
10/18/14, I wore it today and also tied one of my department store ties to see the difference. I guess they're not that different. I like it a lot and should wear it a little more than occasionally. 11/23/2014, I recently received a Jacob Alexander Charcoal Gray bowtie from Overstock Toyz that is a much better cut/shape. It is longer (or wider, collar tip to collar tip) and about the same height at the bow end, so the bow has a better , narrower shape. I like it a lot.

As a tie enthusiast, this was by far the worst bow tie I've worn.
Exhibit A) I didn't recognize the material. Was starchy and thick.
Exhibit B) did not tie like a bow tie. When you would do the final tightening, it would tighten the entire loop around your neck, not just the knot. Which choked you even when you started the tie as loose as possible. Happened every time.
Exhibit C) the metal loop in back to hold the two parts of the bowtie together snapped after the 5th time tying. Was not tugging.
The only pro to this was the color. But I suppose the reason it was so rich in color was because the material was from a thick sweatshirt.
