I am very impressed with this scale. I am using it to measure loose leaf tea (3 - 5 gram range). I looked at several other models, both "kitchen" scales and "jewelry" scales and decided on this one. For my application the main advantages of this scale are:

1. Weighs in 0.1 g increments (many of the kitchen scales only measure in 1 g increments and when you're weighing in the 3 - 5 gram range that is not sufficiently accurate). As far as I can tell this scale measures very reliably (for instance, the small cup that I use to hold the tea on the scale always weight 22.7 grams).

2. Good durability/size/price combination: Many of the jewelry scales that measure in 0.1 g or less increments either look quite fragile or have very small weighing surfaces. This scale, however, has a large weighing surface and has a very substantial feel to it. I would be very careful using it around a messy kitchen, however, because it seems like it could be easily gummed up with liquids/semi-liquids if they get under the weighing plate. For my application, however, this isn't a problem.

One thing to be aware of is the maximum weight capacity of 200 g. This may limit its usefulness for any medium-sized or larger kitchen applications. But for those you should probably get a cheaper, more water resistant scale with a lower resolution (e.g., 1 g increments).

The Ohaus scale comes complete with a power supply - you don't have to worry about batteries. Display is easy to read and the buttons are easy to use. I found it to be very accurate. One word of caution - you can only recalibrate the scale using a 200 gram calibration weight. Any other weight you purchase can only be used to check calibration - not recalibrate! I assume this is true of the other Ohaus scales as well - if the scale has a 500 gram capacity then it probably can only be recalibrated with a 500 gram weight.

Owned this scale for about six years and it still works great. Before purchasing this I was going through about one per year..worth every penny!

I was pleased to see that the item comes with a power adapter as well as batteries and works well from either source (though the power adapter feels very cheaply constructed). Most importantly I am pleased with the overall functionality of the item: it can weigh a single item of 0.1g reliably (some cheap scales respond poorly at the low end) and responds linearly up to 200g. Interestingly, though it only reports weights up to 200g, it appears to be capable of weighing (slightly) heavier items with a small trick: put the item on and when it reports 'E' press the zero button. When you remove the item it will report the weight 'negatively'. Clearly putting 'overweight' items on is not a good idea so this is not recommended but it was interesting to see.

Overall a worthwhile choice for the price as something this accurate with a greater range would several times the price.

This is a very sensitive scale, great for small amounts (under 3 oz). I think that it would be better to get a scale that was this sensitive on the lower end but had the capacity to go to at least 8oz. For that, you need to spend more money.

Great balance for the price - checked calibration w/NIST weights and was surprised how precise it was to the actual weights.

Use this 5 times/ day for last two years for son on medical diet. This travels with us everywhere (it comes with a travel/storage sleeve) and is a well made scale. Finally dropped it one to many times and had to replace it. Very happy with durability and accuracy. I recommend buying a 200g weight to keep it calibrated if a heavy user like me.

Just right for my application which is weighing birds between 80 and 120 grams. A great feature of this model versus an older model I have used is that it automatically turns off when running on battery so the battery does not go dead when you forget to turn the scale off.

Easy to use and very accurate. The scale measures in .1 gram increments. I use this scale on a farm operation in the process of testing feed at least once a day. The scale works great, I am very pleased with my purchase.

I first bought a $15 scale that looks a lot like this Ohaus, but it never worked properly. The Ohaus is a top shelf quality scale. Zeros out every time and is extremely sensitive and accurate. Very happy with it.
