I have had this Jacket for the last 2 years and it is one of my favorites. I was lucky and found it on sale for $82. I am 5'8" and 190 lbs Athletic Build. I just fit in a medium, granted it is a snug fit, but I prefer the fit to that of a large which tends to be bulky. Last winter I decided to purchase the Hardshell which this zips into, (I can't remember the name of the jacket). And am very happy with the results. We had a very cold winter in NYC last year with temps in single digits and teens. The Denali by itself is great down to around the mid to high 30's. It doesn't do well against wind chill, the addition of the Hyvent outer shell keeps you warm even in low 20's with just a T-shirt on.

This jacket has served me very well over the last few winters, but recently I have gotten into ultralight backpacking and that has shown me that this jacket when considering weight and packability is no longer competitive in today's outerwear market.

In recent years technology has progressed, but the Denali has pretty much stayed the same. The price point has gone up to $180 MSRP, which is only $20 less than the $200 MSRP of the Arcteryx Atom LT.

I recently purchased the Arcteryx Atom LT and I have to say that both jackets are pretty similar in warmth, but the Atom LT certainly trumps the Denali in weight and packability, and also handles wind chill and moisture better due to it's face fabric and DWR finish.

The Denali in Medium weighs 1 lb 7 oz (23 oz) while the Atom LT in large (which is the size one must wear, due to it being cut smaller) weighs in at around 13 oz.
That is a 10 oz difference for essentially the same warmth. The Denali is bulky and will not pack as small and will occupy more space if one is backpacking or if one was traveling and wanted to bring a jacket.

I am pretty sure that the Denali is the more durable of the two. For that reason I would still recommend this product as it will last you many many years. But for purpose of Backpacking, Travel and overall comfort there may be better Jackets out there at this price point.

Very warm! Has pit zips if you get too warm, which is amazing. Also, plenty of pockets to store gear in and the bottom hand-warmer pockets are massive. The sizing does run a bit big, so order a size smaller if you intend to use it as a mid-layer (which you kind of have to due to it not being windproof).

i ordered this jacket twice because i kept receiving a light grey and black not the charcoal. eventually called the north face and found out that this style of charcoal mens jacket is an old style and they do not produce it anymore. seller needs to update picture to make it current. DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT THE PICTURED ITEM.

This jacket was extremely comfortable to wear, unfortunately the jacket I received looked nothing like the one in the image provided.

I live in the Bitterroot Mountains in Montana. This jacket is definitely warm but the cuffs are worthless. I don"t know why North Face didn't put some good adjustable cuffs on a jacket this pricey. These cuffs are loose and will not last long if you are in the mountains all of the time. The wind blows right up the arms.

Overly wide and too short. It's really baggy on me but isn't long enough for me to comfortably wear without exposing skin.

I ordered a M for my husband and the fit is much larger than it should be. The sleeves are extra long and baggy. The white zipper looks better in the photo, but in person is way too bold and looks odd. It would be better if it was black.

The jacket I ordered way to big and I had to return it, but the was my falt. I read some reviews, but I didn't go by size chart. The return and refund was excellent no problems all, and got my money back quickly and purchased another from this company .

Used to own several TNF fleece jackets but not anymore.
This was the last TNF jacket I'll ever buy, the hooded version but essentially the same as the regular jacket without the hood. It's less than 5 years old but it's NOT warm (since day 1!) unless you're indoors or this fleece jacket is worn underneath a shell jacket! Couldn't return a non-refundable sale item :(

Wind goes through the fleece so you'll freeze >:( THIS is the biggest problem with the fleece along with its over-inflated price. You'd expect the fleece to block out the wind but it does NOT.

Notice people wearing the Denali jacket... why do many of them that I've seen wear a sweatshirt or another jacket literally underneath the Denali jacket? Because it does NOT block out the wind!
TNF has a good PR dept. to BS their products to consumers and have them pay a ridiculous expensive amount for their products. The company is as bad as Apple with its overpriced products!

Sure, the jacket is roomy and fits my fine though it's better with a light sweater underneath and much better if I have a shell jacket on top to block out the wind.

Otherwise, TNF products have become no less than overpriced "Fashion" cr@p.
The ONLY good remaining is the windpro fleece gloves though that is getting pricey and it's getting thinner and not as warm as the older models from a few years back!

TNF went from a private business to publicly traded back to privately-held but it's too little, too late. Too much time pleasing shareholders and ruining the quality of its products. Time to move on!

When I purchased this jacket, I was expecting better quality than the loose strings and loose buttons and junky zipper ties on the one I got. It's not awful, but for the price, not worth it.
