Canon Rebels are incredible cameras. These are "budget" or entry-level DSLR's but they are packed with features and unless you are a pro, you won't need much more in a DSLR. They also have the ability to take video.

There is a T5 and a T5i. (What's that little "i" mean?) CAREFUL! They are not the same, and the T5 is less expensive, though certainly a terrific camera. I tested both out before I ended up with these lenses, but swapped the body for the T5i because of the screen resolution. However, the T5 had most of everything I needed and it's a great choice at this price with the lens kit.

The MAIN difference between the two models and that "little i" is in the screen resolution: 460,000 dots for the T5 vs 1,040,000 dots in the T5i. That's a big difference. If you do a lot of video, the T5i could be better for you. You can blow up your pictures on screen to look at your results but the higher resolution makes it a lot easier to see detail in your work.

Another screen difference: the T5i swivel screen is better for video (swings out like a video camera.) The touch screen makes manual settings a breeze. The T5 has a fixed screen like the T3.

The T5 is lighter (480g or 0.94lbs vs 580g or 1.27lbs) THAT'S A BIG POINT in its favor if you like using telephoto. The 75-300mm lens is long and adds weight, so a light camera is something I appreciate.

If you know you do a lot of low-light work? The ISO range of the T5i is larger: T5 100 - 12,800 vs T5i 100 - 25,600

The T5i has a 9 point cross-type Autofocus vs only 1 in the T5. If you are not so techy, this is probably not going to affect you.

The T5 has about 100 shots MORE of battery life than the T5i. So, for someone who vacations and takes a LOT of shots, the longer battery life is very welcome.

The 18-55mm lens is your go-to lens. It's sharp, it's light and it is wide enough for group shots and long enough for portraits and general photography. You should put a UV Protection Filter on it to protect the delicate surface from scratches, dust and fingers.

The 75-300mm lens is long enough to do distance, outdoor and wildlife shots. I used this lens to get some bird shots on a vacation (on my T5i) and I was happy with the results. I also use it regularly to get moon shots on full moon nights. You need a tripod to get the sharpest shots in low light work. Don't get a toy tripod, get something fairly decent but Amazon Basics makes some excellent tripods at good prices. I have one that is light weight for travel in my backpack, and I have a monster I use on my deck for moon and night shots.

Summary: For most vacation and home photographers, this T5 kit is perfect. If you do more video, low light and are more of an avid photographer, the T5i could be better. The lenses offered are most of what you need to start out with DSLRs.

Purchased this camera to replace a 8 year old canon digital camera.

The Canon T5 is OK, it takes really great pictures, can use the ETTL flashes (which is the reason for the upgrade), but I am rather disappointed with the automatic focus, it takes too long to focus. It focuses is steps and normally takes 3 to 4 steps to focus (the old camera did not do this).

The problem with the focusing and the shutter lag is between the two, the picture could be long gone (like pictures of kids at Christmas) before the camera is ready to take the picture. The old Canon only took (maybe) half a second. The manual focus is a lot faster.

I got a generic Neewer flash and ot works great with the camera.

Great starter package but the lenses almost seemed like low quality/low end. I know this is not a high-end kit but I expected more Friiday a Canon.

Good deal for the lenses included. It was a bit late, however. Item in tip top shape, very well-protected

This was my first dslr camera purchase. This is such a great deal, you'll have a hard time finding a better one. I got the camera in two days, which was a lot faster than I expected. I do not think I have put the camera down since I bought it. I absolutely love it. It takes great pictures of babies, dogs, and outdoor scenes (that's all I have really tried so far). I highly recommend this camera and this package deal!
