1.It has an HDMI port and I have used it to show some videos on my tv but not on an external monitor as of yet. I assume that it will.
2. I have never even noticed the fan running at all. Take that with a grain of salt since I wear a hearing aid so It may in fact be running and I never hear.
I have just spent the last hour working on a power-point presentation, with it sitting on my lap, and haven't noticed any heat or noise at all.
Hope this helps, JGH

We have used an USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI adapter to connect a 2nd monitor, the 1st monitor is connected to the HDMI output that comes with the machine, the all machine is very noisless, the heat dissipation is great, its almost fanless.

We do have a dual screen setting, however you do have to purchase a USB3.0 docking adapter with dual video monitor there plenty on the market, I did not purchase the lenovo brand because of the bad reviews, the one that I lliked was the targus brand and works perfect 5-starts; I have not notice the loudness of the fan so I can not comment on it.
