OK, Beatles vs. Doors - try to proceed logically
First of all, pure musicianship. Paul wins. Period. Waaaay distant second - George Harrison Almost up to George standards - Robby Kreiger Everybody else - competent, maybe even pretty good... but fairly irrelevant compared to the top three there. Interestingly, Jim Morrison and Ringo Starr might be considered most likely to have never seriously pursued a musical career if things had been slightly different. OK, now for what might be called the "phenomena" factor: Paul is a phenomenon simply by virtue of being a true no holds barred musical genius more along the lines of a Mozart or Bach than the average rock musician. He tossed out more musical brilliance on an album side than most rock composers can hope for ever. What would you think if you had written the riff for "Live and Let Die" or "Day Tripper". I think all of us can agree that the current state of rock radio (terrestrial) is tragic. There are a hundred reasons why that is (no need to beat those dead horses), but the bottom line is, for those of us who like -- for a lack of a better term -- "classic rock" -- the pickings are slim.
I have lived on both coasts over the past 20 years and listened to a lot of rock 'n' roll radio during that time. Somewhere along the way it became homogenized and sterilized. It was the same thing wherever you went. Same play lists. Same bands. Same songs. You know the drill. No depth. No imagination. But here's where I think they're really went off the rail: There's nothing wrong (for the most part) with the artists they choose to play. But many of these bands are still (and have been) recording and performing for the past 20 years. But these program directors choose to ignore it.
