Go to this post on page 7 of this thread for the details:

I have started a poll over on the Kindle Boards and would appreciate your input. I'd like to have lots of votes so that when I contact Amazon I can have a lot of support behind me. I can't do a formal poll here on the Amazon boards, so you can either post your response here or go to the KindleBoards and vote there. The poll is located at:,34520.0.html

Personally, my 1st choice would be a user-accessible folder on the Kindle that I could put images in to be used as screensavers.

My 2nd choice would be an "app" of some sort, even for a fee, that would allow me to control my screensavers.

My last choice, if Amazon is intent on not allowing user-created images as screensavers, would be to allow Kindle users to choose from a list of available screensavers. Checkboxes or something similar, so I can just quit seeing the images I don't like.

No, I don't care about screensavers.

I would like any of your 3 choices, although I'm okay with what we have now.

I only want to see Emily and Oscar. Creepy and Weird is the way to go.

Yes! I agree with the order of your choices too.

There should just be a choice in the preferences menu that says: Standard, Current Book Cover, and Blank

Nope, fine with what we have.

One suggestion made on the KindleBoards thread was that Amazon could offer "theme packs". Something like a nature pack, or sports pack. I could even see them offering Author Packs, say Stephen King, where you would have an author photo or portrait, book covers, quotes, etc.

I would still prefer to be able to just add my own images, but if they don't want to offer us that kind of flexibility, I think this would be another good option. It could also be a revenue generator which might help them accept the concept.

I'd like to be able to set the time it goes to the screen saver, I get sick and tired of putting it down to do something, then coming back to have it on the screen saver. I don't really care about the images, though their choice of dead authors leaves a lot to be desired.

I would be happy with any of those choices or simply be able to choose from what's currently in memory. I would just have it set to the "kindle definition" page with the tree on it as the only screen saver that pops up. I like that one a lot, and dislike the random authors. Although choosing from installed book covers would be nice too.

Yes, as I was saying earlier I like the idea of a root folder that treats all image files placed in it as screensavers.

Couldn't care less. The only time the screensaver is visible is the half second it takes me to close the cover when I'm done reading and the half second it takes me to open the cover andwake her back up. Who cares what's on the screen if the cover is closed and I can't see it?

I've found I only put it in the cover if I need to use the light in my lighted cover, or I'm putting it away. I leave it out of the cover on my desk most of the time.

But I do appreciate your proper use of the phrase "I couldn't care less." It seems like these days, more often than not, people will use the wrong phrase "I could care less." They still get their sentiment across, but they're technically not saying what wanted their words to mean. There's also a mix of the right and wrong forms of the phrase used on TV... but is that art imitating life? Or are the writer's not aware themselves? Just a pet peeve I have, and I'm happy to see that some people still use the correct form. =)

I'd be happy just to have a special screen for the password protection that allows me to display my contact information (without having to type it every time in the password hint area).

We had the (unsupported) ability to do custom sleep mode pictures with the K1. My guess has always been that they got a lot of Customer Service calls on it, because of people using improperly formatted images and wanting Amazon to fix the issue.

My guess is that we'll get some kind of app to do it, that will format the images for you. I think it may eventually come in the apps store...although it could be free. We know it can be done because of the "hack" that is out there, which I don't recommend (because it violates your Terms of Service).

My preference would be the ability to have user-provided images. I would also like to see the ability to buy I've said before, something like 100 public domain pulp images for a buck would make me happy. :) These two could co-exist.

I'm okay with the current situation, but I would like the options.

The hack doesn't work for the K3 and so far it doesn't look hopeful that it ever will.

I don't care about the screen saver. With X amount of resources I want Amazon to focus on a software update for the dx, improving battery life (i get nothing close to what the specs say), including more nonfiction ebooks in the stores, improving screen resolution, etc. The games and other non-reading features could disappear tomorrow and i wouldn't be affected in the least.

Yes! If they allowed 3rd party application even. I'd scoop it up. Anything but the dead authors.

I would like to add pictures of my family, and cool nature pics I've taken.
