Morrison certainly was a classic drunken Irish poet, but a great deal of the outrageous things he did was showmanship. His lyrics were full of Wagnerian Love/Death imagery. He did managed to antagonize Nixon so much with the violently antiwar message of "The Unknown Soldier" and the video that went with it, (one of the first Rock Videos created) that Nixon forced the Justice department to hound Morrison to death. Morrison was a great deal smarter - cleverer - than the way he was portrayed in Oliver Stones "Doors". He had a Mensa level IQ.
Yeah he did a lot of acid and yeah he drank far too much at the end of his life. In Miami, in concert he stuck his hand down his pants, and then pushed his hand out his fly. Some policeman in the back of the auditorium thought he took out something else, but that's what happened. This was a joke but Nixon seized on it as an excuse to put Morrison, someone on his Enemies List, in jail. Morrison had one of the best baritone... 16 hours ago

And . . . you know that I am neither a Michael Jackson lover or hater. However . . . I do find it somewhat fascinating that a Michael Jackson lover would be so quick to dismiss Billy Ray Cyrus as a one hit wonder. And . . . excuse me for ever bringing up his name . . . but I think Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus are prime examples of what "nepotism" can do in the music industry. 1 day ago
