I just completed reading "Your Home: A Living Canvas" which offers a rare glimpse into the heart and imagination of one of the finest "living" mural and decorative paint finishers in the country, Curtis Heuser. It is full of inspiration and valuable well-seasoned information from this 20 year veteran in the decorative arts field. The book follows the spectacular artistic transformation of the artist's personel historic Victorian Gothic residence - where the walls and ceilings and even some furniture - are treated as canvas. The architectural and decorating detail in this book is phenomenal. I would encourage this book be purchased for anyone with even the slightest or remote interest in making a living through general interior contracting- be it through painting murals and faux finishes, interior design, architecture, home remodeling or restoration. I guarantee, as I was, you will be in awe of this man's exceptional creative talents!

Heuser makes the art of decorative painting seem attainable, even by those with little to no talent. His how -to's are simple to follow, well detailed with exceptional photography reference and the book explodes with inspirational imagery. If "painting" is your fortay, or if you have even the remotest interest in the subject, you "will" be amazed by this guy's talent. He amazingly transforms walls and ceilings in this book, as well as furniture -mostly with only latex or acrylic paints and glazes. The fine mural work he achieves with ordinary everyday house paint here, is unbelievable! The depth and oil quality appearance in his work is daunting. Heuser explains tools and materials, techniques and how-to steps with rare eloquence that will capture and keep your interest, from start to finish. All in all, "Your Home a Living canvas" is a phenomenal value, far exceeding it's price!
