Tut, tut, tut... Things haven't changed since well before Swift wrote about aspiring poets in the 1720s: "...millions miss for one that hits. Say, England, could you ever boast, three poets in an age, at most?" Our business as poets isn't to shoot down other's poor and untutored babblings. Poetasters have and shall always exist. With attention to the good in poetry - the traits that sing and convey a fresh message, a mediocre poet can raise himself or herself up eventually, if they try, and if they care enough to critically sidestep their own vanity. No, the problem with poetry isn't the poetasters that we can ignore for their crude ineptitude, for they have been around always, and really have zero impact on the top quality of the craft. The real problem of poetry is the monopoly by academics on publication of effort. Unless you pay for your own book or warp your style to fit a very narrow range of currently "acceptable" gibberish, you have no hope of...
