Okay since people seem to throw around words like Socialist, Communist, Marxist and seem to have no understanding what any of those things mean, I am give the quick 2 minute run down on Karl Marx's definitions.

Karl Marx believed socialism would be the next logical step beyond capitalism in modern society.

Socialism for Marx was the process of the workers taking direct ownership of the production, resources, and output of society.

Marx believed this change would come through revolution of the working class.

Pure Communism as theorized by Marx was after the state had been dissolved. The governing of society and ownership would a completely democratic process decided by the people as a whole.

World Communism would follow in which all governments would slowly wither away and society would reach a utopia like state of functioning without government.

Lenin moved the Soviet experiment away from Pure Marxist Communism and led to the fascist regime that we know so well.

Why hasn't this country ever elected an avowed atheist?

Because most people are dumb enough that they want to elect a President who they think is like them and they'd "like to have a beer with" instead of trying to pick the person who has the best resume.

You wouldn't pick an accountant or a CEO based on their religious beliefs, so why would you pick the leader of your country based on that?
