I don't agree for a number of reasons.

1: The 'Twelve Step Program' explicitly promotes (It could even be argued that it 'demands'...) the belief in a 'Higher Power'. That 'Higher Power' is implicitly a reference to an intentional supernatural agent. "A *God* by any other name..." . That in itself is a clear violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.

2: The clinical effectiveness of the AA program is dubious at best. It has not been credibly demonstrated that AA 'therapy' is any more effective than no therapy at all. That being the case (and the evidence strongly suggests that it IS the case), the addition of the AA Big Book to the school curriculum can only subtract from the limited time and resources that are available to students. To spend time and resources teaching AA means spending less classroom time and resources on other more useful subjects.

3: AA explicitly posits the concept that alcohol abuse is a 'disease'. Given the absence of any...

LBOM>This could lead to a new topic of discussion: "Why Do Athiests Proselytize?"
or,
"Why Are There Athiest Missionaries?"<

Or "What are christians afraid of?" "Are truth and christianity incompatible? " "Vandals for christ" "WWCV What Would Christ Vandalize?" Tired of thinking? Become a christian."

Ralph: Where is the hate in saying that marriage must be between one man and one woman?

Nick: Where was the hate in saying blacks had to drink from a separate water fountain? Where was the hate in saying Japanese-Americans had to enter internment camps? Where is the hate in denying to one group of people the same rights and privileges that other groups get? Oh, the hate is implicit in such attitudes.
