What can I say, I'm a little late to the Xbox party. So this week, I just got a 360 (250gb, no Kinect), and I'm looking to the VGF for some suggestions. Yes, I've Googled various "Best of" lists, but not many people seem to focus on the exclusives. I already have a PS3, and some Steam goodness, but I'm looking for some suggestions on some good 360-only games to check out, whether it's retail or XLBA.

What do I enjoy? I really like "action/stealth" games (yes, I picked up Splinter Cell: Conviction on Steam a while back, as well as Mark of the Ninja), so Tenchu Z is on my list. I enjoy dungeon crawlers like Torchlight, Dungeon Siege 3, etc. I like the classic turn-based FF RPGs. I'm a fan of good twin-stick shooters, and third-person action stuff like Darksiders, Saints Row 3, and the Ratchet and Clank games. The console comes with Forza 4, so I'm set for racing for a bit, and I'll probably try the Gears series.

I know that there are several years' worth of older titles that I'm probably not even aware of. So aside from the Halo series...any suggestions?

all those jrpgs at the beggining, the rare games, halo, gears, a bunch of arcade games

I was personally a fan of the Fable series. I second Crackdown.

I think I remember (vaguely) hearing about Crackdown...was that an open-world 3rd-person action deal? I'll check that out, so thanks for that. I did enjoy the first Fable on PC, are either of the other two worth getting?

And I have no idea what game "a bunch of arcade games" is.

Hey says:
The Tenchu game is decent, but it feels a little "unfinished" to me. If you like the older Tenchus though, it's definitely worth a shot, especially with how cheap it is. The Batman Arkham games are a nice mix of third-person fights and some stealth portions. If you don't mind over the top violence in a grindhouse vein, I'd highly recommend Splatterhouse but I think I'm in a minority on that view.

For turn based RPGs, you can't go wrong with Lost Odyssey. Beautiful game with music by Uematsu and directed by Sakaguchi, both of Final Fantasy fame and it'll feel familiar to you if you played FF games. If you're willing to try an RPG that's a bit out in left-field, I'd give Resonance of Fate a shot too. My neighbor and I are both playing that one right now and we're both enjoying the heck of it.

Yes. I would recommend skipping the sequel to Crackdown though.

I liked the Fable series as a whole. If you like the first one I would say check them out. The third one to me is the best in the series.

Arcade games I would go with Bastion and Shadowrun.

Edit: Shadow Complex not Shadowrun.

Oh crap, wrong name, it should be Shadow Complex. My bad.

Hey says:
Oh, then I'll second that recommendation. That game is amazing! The best Metroid game that Nintendo never made.

Lost Odyssey does look interesting, I'll look further into that. Res of Fate, however, I couldn't really get into the combat mechanics (tried it on the PS3).

Shadow Complex, this looks seriously cool. Argh, this is not good for my backlog.

Have you looked at Blue Dragon? I honestly never played it, but it might be something to look into.

Hey says:
You gotta be interested in the traditional anime-style characters to get through Blue Dragon. Usually I can manage it, but this game even got the better of me and I had to stop. The boss music by Ian Gillian is the weirdest music choice in games I can think of, as well.

Check out Alan Wake, you might enjoy it based off of this.

I think that is what actually kept me from playing the game.

Hey says:
I was fine with it until Maromaru showed up. I just can't deal with that character. It's the epitome of the "Japanese annoying character." The voice is like nails on a chalkboard too.

Blue dragon starts and stay boring I thought and the game is like a couple hundred hours long. I'd skip it.

I'd skip Crackdown and get Crackdown 2, better looking, smoother, more varied
Kameo Elements of Power
Various Halo games.

All pretty cheap now.

For a dungeon crawl RPG try Crimson Alliance on xbl.

Enjoy Japanese schmups? There are a ton of those.
