James Ragan's "In the Talking Hours",
This review is from: In the Talking Hours (Paperback)
Contemporary American poetry today sounds too much like hastily written letters-to-the-editor, angry, flailing, desperate, transient refractions of empty little darknesses. Comes then James Ragan's newest book of poetry which exhibits remarkable abilities of Ragan to make some meaningful ado about something. There is an enormous nostalgia that evokes success similar to Thomas Wolfe's huge preoccupation with essential familial relationships. An expressive originality.
