President Kimball prophetic words apply today,
By
This review is from: Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball (Kindle Edition)
President Kimballs ability to see the mindset of those needing to repent reveals a deep understanding and comprehension of those laden in sin; he is a prophet, seer, and revelator. Righteousness and perfection is realizing: Live is opportunity, the righteous do not need to fear death, eternal life is endless growth and posterity.
President Kimball wonderfully illustrates how mercy can not rob justice, in the parable of the prodigal son. The elder son receives his full inheritance. The Father can not excuse the riotous life of his younger son, but rejoices in the redemption or return of his lost son. Mercy can be extended to those that repent Deprivation helps one to realize what they have and appreciate the full blessings. If deprivation brings a person to repentance than it is good. I found this idea to be helpful. Adversity should drive us towards seek help from the Lord and his atonement. In the parable of the prodigal son, the eldest son receive his full inheritance and all that his father promised. The younger son, repented of his sins and returned home. Through the process of repentance, he too would receive an inheritance through restoration and forgiveness. Mercy can not rob justice. Procrastination is a sin because it is a devious form of rationalization. Act quickly when prompted or when given an priesthood assignment. Or when you hear the words, "honey will you..." Worried about Christmas gifts? Short on money? Give a rare gift from the heart. Christ gave people rare and precious gifts that impact the world today. The gift of the spirit is rare. Share a special thought with someone, this Christmas The miracle of forgiveness is that it brings peace. Peace from reconciling with God. Clean The father builds his miniature kingdom of God through his family. The father presides in the home and is held in high spiritual stature by his wife and children. How is this to be done? As patriarch of his home, the father should be leading by establishing good relationships with his children, teaching true doctrine, and receiving personal revelation. The spiritual war is real. The father should be relying on the doctrinal curriculum and studying and teaching from sayings of prophets. The spiritual heavy weights provide gravity against evil. Mass slows down the distractions. Focus. We are at the point, in time, that any spiritual innocent ignorance will result in spiritual captivity: atheism, agnosticism, hedonism, divorce, immorality, theft, and violent crimes. The father should warn his family of the evils, the risks of certain thoughts and practices, and be a watchman for his family. If the father is receiving personal revelation, his family will be much calmer and confident. How is personal revelation improved upon? The father establishes the vision for his family and like Lehi engages the family into action. As the family begins to act, they will seek answers from the Lord. The Lord provides the answers and resources to accomplish the righteous desires. The combining of secular learning with spiritual is important. All truth is good. Divine truths are central and secular truths should be pursued. You must search vast amounts of information and sources to find truth. The pursuit of truth is hard work. Discovery of Spiritual truths are powerful and rare. Modern day revelation by those with keys is abundant. President Kimball explained leaders receive deep impressions on administration of doctrine, missions, welfare, temples, and economy. The amount of revelation is key to the holy ghost gifts In short, I found reading President Kimball's teaching edifying. It built my spirit up, I felt stronger, I saw more evil that needed corrected, I received more wisdom. I think one needs spiritual fortification. |
