Format: Audio CD
In the large Dinning family out of Manchester, Oklahoma (nine children), which spawned a sister act and a solo male vocalist, each of which boasted four nationally-charted singles, younger brother Max Edward (Mark) - born August 17, 1933 - certainly had bragging rights since he owns the only # 1 on the Billboard Pop charts, that morose teenage death entry in December 1959/January 1960, Teen Angel, on MGM K12845 b/w Bye Now Baby. But then again, it was written by sister Eugenie (Jeannie) and her husband Red Surrey, and with twin sibling Virginia (Ginger) and another sister, Lucille (Lou), she saw all four of their hits make the Top 20 for Capitol in 1947/48, whereas the other three for Mark finished in the lower regions of the charts.

Mark started out in the C&W field after auditioning in Nashville for Wesley Rose, and the first 12 tracks in this 29-track import release from Cub reflect that choice, all coming from his 1960 LP Wandrin' Mark Dinning (MGM E3855) and most of which were Country, including a couple of Hank Williams covers: Feather In The Wind; Lost Highway; Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair; Flow Gently Sweet Afton; The Twelfth Of Never; Jamaica Farewell; I'm Just A Country Boy; The Japanese Farewell Song; Ramblin' Man; The Streets Of Laredo; The Roving Gambler.

The next 11 tracks are from his other 1960 album "Teen Angel" (MGM SE3828), again reflecting his Country preference and again including some Hank Williams tunes: Teen Angel; I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry; Black-Eyed Gypsy; Danny Boy; You Thrill Me; A Life Of Love; You Win Again; Little Angel; I Lost; Remember; Do You Know; I'm Too Young To Die.
