5.0 out of 5 stars upbeat & fun
I really enjoyed the remixed versions of Jennifer's past singles. So, I decided to buy this CD and I was very pleased. J to tha L-O is awesome. Revamped versions of "love don't cost a thing" "ain't it funny" and "I'm real" are great. It gives the CD a hip-hop/R&B feel. Actually almost all of the tracks have the hip-hop treatment.

"I'm gonna be alright" and "feelin'...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty alright CD
Aight, I copped the CD and I was expecting it to be worst, but its actually aight. Dont get me wrong this aint one of the best CDs and J.LO aint the best singer. but I think for the most part this cd Is only good because of all the tight guest rappers and stuff. But without them it would be nothing. Thats all I gotta say.

Songs are good though
so yeah if you...

5.0 out of 5 stars upbeat & fun, March 12, 2002
This review is from: J to tha L-O! The Remixes (Audio CD)

"I'm gonna be alright" and "feelin' so good" are also infused with hip-hop beats. To me, these remix versions sound better than the originals. Besides the hip-hip/R&B stuff, J to tha L-O's got some great dance numbers. I really liked the disco/dance/latin feel of the "walking on sunshine" remix. "Let's get loud" on the other hand could've been better.

The best remix on this CD has got to be the hex hector remix of "waiting for tonight." The pulsating sonic sound is awesome. It's still one of my faves. As a whole, this CD is very upbeat, fun, and great to play anytime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great combination, May 2, 2002

gyrfalcon987 (Oberlin, OH United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: J to tha L-O! The Remixes (Audio CD)
This cd combines Jennifer's two previous albums into a must have album. All the best songs of both On The Six and J. Lo are on the album. They are remixed into better songs. This album also includes Ain't It FUnny and I'm Real!!!

Love Don't Cost A Thing (RJ Schoolyard Mix feat. Fat Joe)-This is not one of the better remixes. Besides adding some rapping from Fat Joe and a little beat it is like the original version-7/10

Ain't it Funny (Murder remix feat. Ja Rule)-If you haven't heard this song have you ever listened to the radio? This #1 smash always makes me wanna sing a long when I hear it. This is also the remix of the remmix which features Cadillac Tah-10/10

I'm Gonna Be Alright(Track Masters Remix)-This is a fair song on her J. Lo album but with the remix it makes it much more danceable and pleasant to listen to-8/10

I'm Real (Murder Remix feat Ja Rule)-Another one of my favorites. Sounds similair to Ain't It Funny but better in my opinion-10/10

Walking On Sunshine(Metro Remix)-This remix has nothing special except an addition of bets to the background-8/10

If You Had My Love (Dark Child Master Mix)-As always the Dark Child remix is very good. Although no one additional sings in it but it is a whole lot better than the original song-10/10

Feeling So Good (Bad Boy Remix feat P. Diddy and G. Dep-The original version of Feelin So Good wasn't that good but adding P. Diddy and G. Dep and some extra beats etc. makes this a lot better-9/10

Lets Get Loud (Pablo Flores Remix)-This is a fun song. The remix sounds different but is good-8/10

Play (Sack International Remix)-Play is one of my fav songs but the remix is nothing special-8/10

Waiting For Tonight (Hex's Momentous Radio Mix)-This is another one of my fav remixs. It sounds cool in this version-10/10

Alive-The only non-remix song on the album. It is off the soundtrack of her movie Enough. I actually enjoyed this slow song-9/10

Instead of purchasing her other albums I would suggest this remix album because it offers an excellent combination of the two! I also like the album art it is all scenes from her music videos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get This Remix CD, March 3, 2002
This review is from: J to tha L-O! The Remixes (Audio CD)
I'm not a big fan of remixes cd. My friend bought Limp Bizkit's remix cd, and it was horrible. I gave Jennifer Lopez's a try when I was watching a MTV show and heard a clip of "Feelin' So Good" remix. So, I downloaded the whole album. It's a great remix album to tell you the truth. I bought the album the next day. The album cover is the best album cover I have ever see in my life. It's got pictures from all of her videos. The album opens with "Love Don't Cost A Thing (RJ Schoolyard Mix feat. Fat Joe)"..great remix. My fave remix off the album is If You Had My Love (Dark Child Master Mix) & Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix feat. Ja Rule & Caddillac Tah). I totally think you should get it.

1. Love Don't Cost A Thing (RJ Schoolyard Mix feat. Fat Joe): 9/10
2. Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix feat. Ja Rule & Caddillac Tah): 10/10
3. I'm Gonna Be Alright (Track Masters Remix feat. 50 Cent): 10/10
4. I'm Real (Murder Remix feat. Ja Rule): 9/10
5. Walking On Sunshine (Metro Remix): 8/10
6. If You Had My Love (Dark Child Master Mix): 10/10
7. Feelin' So Good (Bad Boy Remix feat. P. Diddy & G. Dep): 9/10
8. Let's Get Loud (Pablo Flores Remix): 10/10
9. Play (Sack International Remix): 7/10
10. Waiting For Tonight (Hex's Momentous Radio Mix): 8/10
11. Alive: 7/10

4.0 out of 5 stars Forget about the first 2 albums, Go for the remixes!, February 18, 2002
This review is from: J to tha L-O! The Remixes (Audio CD)
This is a great collection to have for any Jennifer Lopez fans. Included is all of her greatest hits including the new versions of I'm Real and Aint it Funny with Ja Rule. Standout tracks include the funky remixes of Play, Lets Get Loud, and Waiting For Tonight. Unfortunately the other songs are not really remixes, more like variations of the songs, such as on Love Don't Cost a Thing and If You Had My Love. this does not matter, for its nice to have an album from J Lo that I could listen to all the way through without skipping tracks, which is what I found myself doing on her 2 albums. There is not one bad song on the album, and even the new ballad Alive is very beautiful and is by far her best effort vocally. Forget about her 2 albums, and get the remixes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Remix CD - J.LO's Best, April 23, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: J to tha L-O! The Remixes (Audio CD)
AWESOME CD! Here's some individual reviews of the songs:

1 Love Don't Cost A Thing [RJ Schoolyard Mix feat. Fat Joe] 5/5 Great remix, seems similar to the original, but a little more uptempo & one of the best on the disc. A great dance tune!
2 Ain't It Funny [Murder Remix feat. Ja Rule & Caddilac Tah]5/5 Awesome again, Ja Rule really isn't a favorite of mine but here's an exception! Great lyrics.
3 I'm Gonna Be Alright [Trackmasters Remix] 3/5 Never liked this song, even in the original.
4 I'm Real [Murder Remix feat. Ja Rule] 5/5 Great song again!! This is really a nice song to groove along to.
5 Walking On Sunshine [Metro Remix] 4/5 This is an OK song, seems so similar to the album version though.
6 If You Had My Love [Dark Child Master Mix] 3/5 ehhhhh. I hate this song. I really wasnt a fan of her first album songs.
7 Feelin' So Good [Bad Boy Remix feat. P. Diddy & G. Dep] 4/5 This is nice, but this isnt a great song either.
8 Let's Get Loud [Pablo Flores Remix] 3/5 I sorta hate this song but its ok to listen to every once & a while
9 Play [Sack International Remix] 5/5 Love this one! It is awesome! Loved the original too!
10 Waiting For Tonight [Hex's Momentus Radio Mix] 5/5 This is a classic. It'll be played for years & years & years.
11 Alive 5/5 I have to say i never knew Cris Judd could songwrite? A beautiful ballad, in the movie Enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite an impressive remix cd., June 30, 2002
By
This review is from: J to tha L-O! The Remixes (Audio CD)
Jennifer Lopez is by all means not most talented and striking singer but this record is definately good. It involes a great mix ofR&B, hip hop, pop and electronica. Overall the album is very catchy. A great cd to groove to. I will give a small summary for each song. Each song is rated from 5 stars.

1. Love don't cost a thing featuring fat joe - it's a catchy tune and has a groovy r&b.hip hop influenced beat. 4/5

i'm real featuring ja rule - this is one funky track. ja rule and jlo go well in this collabaration. r&b influence. 4.5/5

i'm gonna be alright - great r&b track. the beat is dark and street like. very funky beat once again. catchy chorus. 4.5./5

aint it funny - has to be one of the best tracks on the cd. a heavy hip hop beat. once again great collaboration with ja rule and jlo. very smooth and funky beat. 5/5

walking on sunshine - this song would have to be under the genre of house music. very catchy song. grerat track to pump loud for the summer. 4/5

if you had my love - very good remix. r&b and pop influence. good remix of the smash hit. 3.5/5

feelin so good - the original version of this song is great but sadly this is a disappointing remix. it lacks rythym in regards to the beat. 1/5

let's get loud - electronica type music. not the greatest song but an ok remix. 3/5

play - the background beat is soft but sweet. has an r&b feel. could have had more potential. 4/5

waiting for a tonight - a good remix. electronica, more on the trance side. great track for the clubs. 4.5/5

alive - this song is completely different to anything on the album. it's a ballad. i am bot a huge fan of ballads but jlo's voice is great on this track. it's a very pleasant song. 4.5/5

i would really reccommend this cd.
peace

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth Buying If You Like J. Lo!!!, April 3, 2002
This review is from: J to tha L-O! The Remixes (Audio CD)
I basically wanted to buy this album for one reason: Ain't It Funny (Remix) featuring Ja Rule and Cadillac Tah. I totally love this song! So, I hastily bought it based on my opinion of that one song. Yet, after listening to it, I found some great remixes of songs of her released and unreleased songs. I will give my honest opinion of all the songs on the album for your viewing. I would definately recommend for you to buy this album if you like J. Lo, and you like remixes with great beats and overall sound!

TRACK LISTING AND CRITIQUE

1. Love Don't Cost A Thing (RJ Schoolyard Mix) - featuring Fat Joe - *GOOD REMIX!* The beats are pretty good!

2. Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix) - featuring Ja Rule and Cadillac Tah - *BEST REMIX!!!!!* As I said earlier, this is the best remix on here. Its become so popular over the radio in the past couple of months!

3. I'm Gonna Be Alright (Track Masters Remix) - featuring 50 Cent - *SECOND BEST REMIX!!!* I also love this remix. By the way, J. Lo is currently shooting the video for this song. Look out for it coming soon!

4. I'm Real (Murder Remix) - featuring Ja Rule - *THIRD BEST REMIX!!!* Everyone knows this remix. Probably J. Lo's most popular song so far! Another reason I bought this album.

5. Walking On Sunshine (Metro Remix) - *NOT AS GOOD AS OTHERS* I think its annoying.

6. If You Had My Love (Dark Child Master Mix) *GOOD REMIX* Awesome beats!

7. Feelin' So Good (Bad Boy Remix) - featuring P. Diddy & G. Dep - *GREAT REMIX* I like the sound of this one a lot. It can be found on the single to Feelin' So Good also. I like this better than the original!

8. Let's Get Loud (Pablo Flores Remix) *NOT GOOD* I like the original version better on her first album On the 6. This was an international megahit, being released everywhere outside the United States. My cousins in India knew this song.

9. Play (Sack International Remix) *BAD AND POINTLESS REMIX* It is really annoying and pointless. Play is already a club song! The original version had a great club beat like Waiting for Tonight!!!

10. Waiting For Tonight (Hex's Monentous Radio Mix) *BAD AND POINTLESS REMIX* Again, same situation as #9, making a club remix out of a club song!

11. Alive (NOT A REMIX) *BAD SONG* J. Lo's ballad isn't all that great. She has a good voice for faster songs, but this song is boring! She sounds really catchy when she sings fast songs like the remixes on here!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's HOT! (with a few no-no's), March 12, 2002
This review is from: J to tha L-O! The Remixes (Audio CD)
Got a cool car, like to drive around with funky music playing? Or, are you like me and dance around the house in your underwear to really loud, fun music...? This CD rocks! J-LO left out the "spanish-influenced" fillers froher first two albums and remixed all her hottest hits...

Okay, so why only four stars? "I'm Gonna Be Alright" and "I'm Walking on Sunshine" are a bit "cheesy"..not worthy as remixes..but still fun in their own way. "If You Had My Love" is still great, but a bit slow compared to the original..one of my old personal favorites. Once you hit these on the CD you might actually look down at the speedometer on your car..whereas the others keep your undivided attention. "Feelin' So Good" is very different...and what's this! P.Diddle..oops, I mean P.Diddy loans his own vocals to the Latin Diva's music?...How sweet and slightly controversial. Think he got an invitation to her wedding? :)

ANYWAY..I digress..."Let's Get Loud" certaintly held it's own as a hot song, and the remix is O.K., but the newly-minted version can't compare to the original.

Why is this still a four star album -It's Different. It's Fun. It's Impossible to not start swaying to the music when you hear it. In all, it is a terrific teaser to own until J-LO puts out her next best thing. As a former college party thrower, I can almost guarantee this would satisfy an eclectic bunch of people crammed into a confined space waiting for the beer to arrive.

There is one thing I wish "J-TO Tha L-O!" had on it's line-up. I caught a long glimpse of her on tour, and to my surprise she was singing the fabulous theme song to the movie "Mohagany" ...the song Diana Ross once made famous. I am hoping she will put her version of the classic on her next album.

4.0 out of 5 stars J 2 tha L-O is a B 2 tha U-Y!, February 9, 2002
By
Dance Music Guy (Cajun Country, LA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: J to tha L-O! The Remixes (Audio CD)
"J to Tha L-O" seems more like an act of necessity because two of J.Lo's biggest hits(the remixes of "I'm Real" and "Ain't it Funny") didn't actually appear on the original version of "J.Lo" released last year and never have had a home of their own. This quickly produced project turns out to be Jennifer Lopez's greatest attempt! She's a solid singer, she's got the best hired hands in the business tightening up her album tracks, and she's a hottie. This CD is centered around her biggest hits and less of "On the 6" and "J.Lo's" filler(thankfully). This album is just pure joyride from start to finish! With everything great on top 40 radio, spiked with dance floor intensity. There's stamina and consistency here because these twelve tracks focus less on the Latin, R&B, and hip-hop elements of her originals, and shows what she's really capable of. "Walking on Sunshine," is the album's standout track, a stellar mix of samba and filtered disco influences melded with Euro pop. There's also a strong flava of '80s dance and pop music which gives the best tracks their swing on Pablo Flores' rabid Miami Sound Machine-style remake of "Let's Get Loud", P Diddy's new-wave hip pop splash "Feelin' So Good", and Hex Hector's remix of "Waiting for Tonight," which plays out with Everything but the Girl style. "Waiting..." was da bomb when it first was released, so it's no surprise that it was included on this CD. "If You Had My Love" is a dance floor ballad, while the sweet beats on "I'm Real", "Ain't It Funny", and "Play"(gotta love the "DJ play my m-frickin' song" lyric) are equally irresistible. All said and done, Lopez has never sounded hotter! It's all great stuff. I highly recommend checking out Jennifer's latest, and greatest, attempt. I gave it 4 of 5 stars because it was not all in the dance genre that I prefer, but don't let that keep you from checking it out. If my review was helpful to you, then please don't forget to vote. THANKS!
