This was my first purchase from this Author and I must say, I was not disappointed. The friendship between Gage and Mills was so real, you would have thought that they was blood bros, when your real blood bro turns on u. Then there's Gage's X Shantel and her so called best friend Arrila, both are as low down and they come. This is just the icing on the cake.... So u will need to buy this book and see that snitching is still going strong. Make be think of one phase in the book. Blood is thicker than water, but you need water to LIVE.

5.0 out of 5 stars That Was Good!!!!, May 7, 2007
This review is from: that was dirty (Paperback)
Anthony Parker (a.k.a. Gage) just got home from a five year prison sentence ready to hit the streets again with his right hand man Mills. Gage and Mills quickly make a name for themselves on the street but not without a price. Someone whom they least expected is trying to take them down. Gage and Mills better wake up before it's too late. Gage also meets the woman of his dreams but can he give up the streets for her? Shantel is regretting the mistake she made when she turned her back on her ex-fiancé Gage five years ago. She now wants him back but Gage has already moved on. Shantel leans on her best friend Arrissa for moral support but Arrissa has some ulterior motives of her own. Soon, everyone is involved in an out of control circle of revenge that turns deadly. Who will survive?

That Was Dirty is an extraordinary novel by Wasiim. Wasiim expertly penned a well crafted novel about respect, betrayal, and loyalty. This book is a captivating street tale but it also has some important messages throughout this story. One of the biggest messages that readers will find is that revenge is not always sweet. You will sympathize with all of these characters. You feel Gage as he struggles between his Muslim faith and his life of crime. You also feel Shantel trying to cope with the biggest mistake of her life. Great character development, a fast-paced storyline, and never-ending drama makes That Was Dirty one of the most exciting urban fiction debuts of the year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dirty or What?, August 29, 2010
This review is from: that was dirty (Paperback)
I read this when it first came out,2005...it was good then and better this time around.

A very good story of friendship, betrayal and vengeance. With people like some of these characters in your life you need no enemies.

I re read this to familiarize myself for part 2,Sinnamon,now I'm in desperate need to find part 3,When It Hits The Fan,that he said in the acknowledgments was already done...CAN ANYBODY HELP A JUNKIE OUT?

Oh...back to the review...sorry

Gage comes home after a 5 year bid with two things on his mind....to get money and never go back.Every goal has obstacles and Gage find a few get in his way....old and new love....haters.....and betrayal by some that were really close to him.

Find out if Gage can reach his goals in Wasiim's well told story.

3.95* rating.

4.0 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating: 3.5) - The High Price of Deceit, July 10, 2007

This review is from: that was dirty (Paperback)
Fresh out of jail after serving five years for gun and drug charges, Gage is ready to jump back into life on the streets. He meets up with Mills, his old friend from jail, and together they attempt to take the drug world by storm. Falling back into the drug game, they reconnect with Flip, who they also met in jail, and begin selling drugs in their old neighborhood. The three gentlemen form a bond and live by a creed of reciprocity, trading favors, whether it involves drugs or death. Not only is Gage enjoying the good life from the drugs, he also has his fair share of women. On his first night out of jail he meets Erica, a beautiful Latina who he immediately falls for. Also, while out with Mills and Flip celebrating his release, he runs into Arrissa, his ex-fiancée's best friend and soon they start up a relationship of their own. However, she keeps this a secret from Shantel who has her own plans for Gage after breaking his heart five years ago. Soon things start to turn upside down and Gage is forced to make some decisions. When the police get too close, he must decide if blood really is thicker than water. Not only that, he also must chose if love is really worth what he will lose if he leaves the streets.

THAT WAS DIRTY by Wasiim is a gritty tale of revenge, sex, lies, drugs, and murder. It places the reader in a world where individuals will do anything to get what they want, even if it means others will lose their lives. Wasiim does a good job of infusing terms and sayings associated with Muslims and also offers a translation so the reader knows what is being said. While the novel is well written, there are times when the pace becomes slow and although the novel appears to have come to an end, it is left open for a sequel. It is a novel with twists and turns the reader may at times find unbelievable, but overall will make them want to read until the end. Not just the average tale of life on the streets, THAT WAS DIRTY shows that deceit and revenge often have a higher price than many are willing to pay.

What a great debut with the perfect title. Everybody in this book did something dirty to somebody, and you should know when you do dirt you get dirt in return. Just ask Gage who is haunted by his dirt when he sleeps or Arrissa who smiles in her friends face and sleeps with her ex-fiance behind her back or Chantel when she turns her back on her man when he needs her most. I could go on but I wont, im just gonna say this book is Hot...Like...Fire.
