Street type of asphalt is really bumpy. I don't think they would move very well over that kind of asphalt. The sidewalk would be ok. To get started my daughter used these on grass, just so she could get used to the height that they give you and the feeling of something heavy on her feet. Then she used them on the sidewalk around our house. So they can totally go anywhere, asphalt included, but it would be rather difficult to truly "skate" with them. I hope that helps! :)

My daughter uses them to skate outside! She hasn't had any problems or complaints, although she does skate up to her school sometimes to skate on the paved parking lot. I hope this helps you.

My daughter skates with them on the asphalt, driveway, sidewalks and we take them to the roller rink. There is a website www.kidsskatefree.com that will give you free passes to a roller rink in your area. When we bring these skates we get in for free.

Some streets are kind of rough, but my daughter and granddaughter both used theirs on the sidewalks and empty school parking lots. They really got a lot of use due to the ablity to change size with their feet.
