Why don't they ship the console now, rather than 3/11/14?

I understand the Titanfall doesn't come out till 3/11, but why don't they just ship this console today when I order it? I'm in the market for an xbone but I don't really want to wait until 3/11 to use it...though this is a good deal...

Because the game comes out on March 11th.

I agree with you. Just put a sticker on the box that says "game available March 11th, 2014" and ship it out. Seems smarter to me. Then you're encouraging people who are out there thinking about grabbing a PS4 but can't find one to get the Xbox One. Why wait?

I couldn't agree more with this. I just ordered it and I'm bummed I won't have the console till March 11. However I can wait the two weeks to save $60 bucks.

I agree because not only do you have to wait until the launch day to get it, you also have to spend time running all the system set-ups and the xbox one day one software update. Not to mention the 40 GB game download.

I know, but I would assume they could just make the download code inactive until March 11...that way I could begin to use the console itself ahead of the date.

That would make too much sense. I think Microsofts head would explode.

This can actually be done as MS is allowing people to Download their Pre-Purchase (Digital) now and have it on their system prior to launch. At 12:00am March 11th the game would then go live.

This would be a great idea in this scenario as well. Btw, from what I've seen the game is only 11.88 GB, not sure why MS is saying 40GB, may have something to do with future DLC.

Sorry that information is incorrect. Here is an official statement from Microsoft on the Matter

"We believe in digital distribution, and are proud to give gamers a variety of ways to purchase and experience their games. However, pre-purchase and pre-download for Titanfall for Xbox One will not be available from Xbox Store. We'll continue to strike a balance between digital distribution and its benefits, while supporting physical games purchase through our retail partners."

They must have pulled it since the last I saw as it was available on the console itself right around the time of demo.

They did. When Microsoft stops jacking it's customers around on digital downloads i'll stop buying the disc. When they finally release a Steam Box I think the general console market will suffer.

yes but then there would be an equal amount of people complaining that the game isn't available even though it's something they paid for.

Riusaki says:
The reason is because the game included is a digital download. Most likely the code to redeem it will be included inside the box.
