This review is from: thirtytwo Women's Lock Boa Snowboard Boot (Apparel)
i cannot resist buying these boots at $80 (size 7) because the price is simply too good (backcountry at 179, rei at 119, evogear at 159) to skip. With the 14" powder here in South Cal in late April, i decided to break them in on my last day of 09-10 season.
my first run was painful. i was not used to the boa system in terms of fitting and had to stop multiple times on the slope because of the pressure against my feet - although lock boots rated 5 at thirtytwo flex index, i felt that they were quite stiff at beginning(also read somewhere else that boa system has more noticeable impact on flex compared to lace system). However, after couple runs here and there, the fit and responsiveness have become much better. the instant responsiveness helped me with my carving and toe turns on steeper slopes. They are very lightweight as well. Overall, i am confident to say they are much better than my old salomon. given the fact that all thirtytwo boots have heat moldable liner and mine hasnt been fitted yet - i do expect to see more improvement in terms of fitting/comfort level once i got it taken care of at local ski shop. that being said, time to ditch burton (or salomon in my case), buy thirtytwo! |
