Yes, I too view this as misleading and cancelled my pre-order on Amazon. What a drag, the whole controversy around when BF3 launched with B2K then you had to buy Premium and get B2K again makes a comeback with BF4....
It's not misleading at all... it clearly states that it's for Premium and at a lower cost than the base game. Shouldn't be that hard to understand. That said, I'm so sick and tired of this premium money grabbing nonsense by EA and Activision. I'd avoid it like the plague if it would cost me less in the long run to buy the expansions individually. I hate buying into this garbage.
That's what I'm going to do, this is the first Battlefield game since 1942 that I won't buy day one. I'll wait 6 months and buy the whole game at once, thank you very much... Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
You need the base game ($59.99) to play multiplayer. You can't buy the multiplayer part separately from the singleplayer campaign. This premium package ($49.99) is add-on content for the multiplayer part (maps, guns, vehicles).
The only Battlefield game I bought right away was BF3. It was a mistake because the game was buggy until about 6 months later. Since EA wants to charge $60 for the game plus $50 for the premuim edition i'm going to wait until they sell the premuim edition at a waaaay cheaper price in 6 - 12 months or so. And all the bugs will be gone as well.
