Thanks to tray less, tool less design, our MR105F not only offers the innovation design for easy SATA/SAS HDD removal, but also offer an un-parallel of reliable SATA hot swap connection (patent pending). FIFTY THOUSAND insert/removal cycles

Even more Reliable Additional to the high reliable SATA connection (see flash demo below), our NEW design incorporated the DUAL COOLING FAN in the bottom to increase the heat exchange to the maximum without fan noise. This will in turn prolong the HDD life.

With ordinary SATA back plane connection, hard drive contacts with backplane connector with spring loaded finger, after several hot swap cycles SATA connector will have scratch and the tension of spring load fingers from the ordinary SATA connector in the back plane eventually is no longer there, data loss can be the result of it, where our disk array module this problem is not exist.

I've had a chance to use this device for a couple months now. I use it as part of my own backup system. I just insert a hard drive, run my backup software, and then eject it. It's super easy and solves my backup problems really well. It works with Windows and Linux. I specifically tested it with Windows 8, Linux Mint, and Linux PartedMagic.

The price is probably the best I've seen. The quality and features are excellent. And it works with anything I throw at it. I could not be happier with this purchase. I highly recommend buying one.

The backup I do is typically a full image backup of my other hard drives. Since it's an overnight job (takes it over 14 hours to complete), if it was going to overheat, it would have. But it did not even get close to overheating. So I'm pretty happy with it.

On the subject of overheating, I just wanted to note that the two fans that come with this device are extremely small. The picture makes them look bigger. I doubt they're doing much, if anything. So don't rely on them to cool your drives. Your PC case should have decent air flow already. If it doesn't, these fans aren't going to help at all. On the plus side, the fans don't make any noise at all.

Also, because this is not a full "enclosure" system like many other tray-less drive bays, it's more open to the air and allows your case fans to do the work of cooling it. I would caution against getting any of those full enclosure models you see out there, even the ones with large fans at the ends of them. This one is better.

As for backups, the idea is that you don't want your backup drive inside of your PC at any time other than to write the backup to it. Because, what happens if an electrical storm happens and fries your system?
