5.0 out of 5 stars Que bella historia..., August 24, 2001
This review is from: La tregua (Paperback)

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Life and Solitude, May 30, 2001
This review is from: La tregua (Paperback)
this is one of the greatest works by Mario Benedetti, a story of sadness, solitude and routine. One great virtue of this book is the way it transmits all the moods that the author is presenting through it's descriptions and the way of living of the characters. La Tregua is about love, life, and the reality of a world who doesn't allows us to live as we may want to. There is people who work for a living and there are many who live to work. Share with Martin Santomé and Laura Avellaneda the social dilema that Benedetti is Presenting us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Otro ejemplo de la literatura poetica de Benedetti, January 28, 1998

This review is from: La tregua/ The truce (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)

5.0 out of 5 stars Inolvidable historia de amor, May 6, 2007

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful novel by Mario Benedetti, July 22, 1997
By A Customer
This 1959 novel is one if not THE posthumous literary piece by Mario Benedetti. Written in the form of a diary, Santomé, our 50 year old "depressed" retiring office worker, struggles with his free time, a young lover, 3 rebeloius children, one homosexual and a stressing daily office routine. The action occurs in Montevideo, Uruguay, and reflects the problems of daily routine that seem to be more present today than 40 years ago. One of the outstanding LatinAmerican Novels. 4.0 out of 5 stars A south american way of living., June 26, 1999

This review is from: La Tregua (Paperback)
I've read La Tregua twice and I could read it more times. I'm from Mexico and La Tregua runs in Uruguay, both countries are similar in the way of leaving. The descriptions from La Tregua reminds me my own country, the life that the main character runs could be the life of hundreds of people in Latin America. La Tregua is one of those books that you can't take away from your hands until you finish it, but at the same time you don't want to finish reading the story , because you get involved with the characters so much that you feel part of the story. The stoyr is about a man who's wife die and he stays with 3 children. He raised them but he never comunicates with them. One day a younger lady starts to work with him and he likes her. This woman change his life, she makes him think things that he would never think about, until 1 day she something terrible happends to her. Don't miss it! Know the detaill.
