More About the Author

Carsen Taite is an avid reader and writer of lesbian fiction. Carsen works by day (and sometimes night) as a criminal defense attorney in Dallas, Texas. Though her day job is often stranger than fiction, she can't seem to get enough and spends much of her free time devouring novels, lesbian fiction in particular. Her goal as an author is to spin tales with plots lines as interesting as the true, but often unbelievable, stories she encounters in her law practice.

Carsen is an active member of the GLBT community, participating in several organizations on both the local and state levels. Carsen is married (Canadian-style) and she and her spouse live near White Rock Lake in Dallas where they enjoy cycling and walking the trails with their fuzzy beasts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Right In Front Of Their Faces, May 27, 2009
By

(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: truelesbianlove.com (Paperback)
This short read is definitely worth the reader's time. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it's the first offering from Carsen Taite. She shows great promise as a talent in this genre. Initially, the book seemed to only be available electronically. However, I really like holding a paperback in my hands and was very happy to see it offered in hardcopy format.

The story takes us into the lives of Mackenzie Lewis and Jordan Wagner. Mackenzie reluctantly dates, only because her friends make her do so. Most of the time she double dates with best friend Jordan, but Mackenzie never approves of Jordan's dalliances. She also never makes a connection with her own dates. Duh. She's in love with her best friend and just doesn't know it yet.

Bottom Line -- It's a classic, often-experienced story in our world. Even though the basis of the story is not original, the telling of the tale is engaging and thoughtful. The protagonists are lovable and realistic. I'd certainly be willing to read something else by this author.

(On a Personal Note - My own children are Makenzie and Jordan. This one little fact made the book a little creepy to read, but it was so good that I got past it. LOL)

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fun read!, May 3, 2009
This review is from: truelesbianlove.com (Paperback)
Soon to be thirty-six years old Mackenzie Lewis is addicted to romance novels (been there, done that!). Being the owner of a popular patio bar and restaurant in Dallas is a time consuming career so most of her personal effects are located in her comfortable office adjacent to the restaurant.

Mac has a good size circle of friends and her best friend for life Jordan is always by her side. Jordan is a player, one of the elite plastic surgeons that allows her an extremely comfortable life, she lives in a loft that covers the entire top floor of an old railway building, however building her career gave her no time for romance but just enough time for casual encounters with no strings attached.

While Mac lives variously through the life of her current romance novel she and Jordan egg each other to find something more fulfilling and that starts with on line dating.

This was a delightful and very sexy novel that also had some hard hitting story lines about really knowing the people in your life and sometimes finding out you don't know them (or yourself) well at all. Some major growing up occurs in the book and it was wonderful to read such a full story.

I loved Mac's friend Aimee, their conversation in chapter seven was a hoot!

Looking forward to reading the author's next novel It Should Be a Crime in August 2009.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice story, January 13, 2011
This review is from: truelesbianlove.com (Paperback)
Jordan Wagner is a successful plastic surgeon and has been Mackenzie Lewis's best friend forever. Jordan is a player and has been out with lots of women. She is not interested in settling down in a relationship with anyone. Mackenzie owns her own upmarket restaurant and would like nothing better than to find Miss Right and to have the happy ever after. On a dare from their friends, Jordan and Mac go online to look for ideal matches. However true love is a lot nearer home than either woman realizes.
I really enjoyed this book. I missed it when it first came out as the paperback was not available in the UK. I'm glad I caught up with it on my ereader as it is a well worthwhile read.
