This is the most delicate and ethereal composition/recording I have ever heard and I am 52yrs old. If you can get your hands on a copy, you'll never regret it. You'll be transported to a place few have been. . . .

Imagine yourself as a tiny feather in the breeze. A delightful wisp carries you to and fro, from place to place, rising and falling but never touching the ground of a quiet fragrant meadow. The ethereal magic of sunlight and soft dew kissed flowers on a spring morning giving life and filling the air with wonders beyond what any other world could ever hope to emulate or create without the touch of Earths own nature. This is the world that Alex De Grassi has created in turning back...there is lilac adrift and...there is old wood to burn. Old wine to drink. Old friends to trust. Old books to read...

This CD, simply put, is a landmark musical accomplishment for the art of guitar. I've been listening to this recording for 30 years and can say that it easily passes the test of time as I never tire of listening. At the time this music came out, I literally had no idea that the guitar could create music like this. Heartfelt melodies embellished with a rich harmonic sophistication that few guitarists have dared to aspire to and a level of virtuosity to rival any classical guitarist. In the ensuing years, fingerstyle guitar music has evolved with the addition of more percussive effects than you will find here but this hardly takes away from the enjoyment of listening to this seminal work. Stylistically, this is the encyclopedia definition of New Age guitar, the genre that deGrassi and Michael Hedges practically invented. It may be hard to find a copy of this CD but it is well worth the effort.

Scotty put it into words!!
I have long since passed my Album collection of early Windham hill stuff away, now all on CD.
This early De Grassi stuff inspired me to try different tuning methods on my guitar and it is by far some amazing instrumentals.
His Cousin William Ackeman is a great guitarist but I find De Grassi a bit more beginning to end player.
Never the less this is good wooden music.
