NY Egg Cream Stable but get the Kosher product!,
This review is from: Fox's u-bet 22-Oz. Original Chocolate Syrup (Misc.)
Great item and a memory from childhood but be sure you get the Kosher variety and not the one made with Corn syrup

The Real Thing!,

If you're from Brooklyn there's really only one chocolate syrup for your milk or egg creams. Fox's is THE cult favorite dating way back maybe even before trolley cars and the original TROLLEY DODGERS! No bona fide Brooklynite or ex-patriate, such as myself, would ever consider a substitute. Hershey be da----!This is the real deal; accept no substitutes. My only regret is the shipping cost from this purveyor. It's cheaper to get on a train and visit the nearest NYC Gristede's; and you get a day in Manhattan to boot! 5 stars plus for this wonderful, unbeatable product. Zero stars for the not to be believed cost to get it home. Demand it of your local super market manager.

best chocolate syrup ever!,

My husband and I recently took a 1 day trip to NYC and while there we tried to get the best NY dining experience, so we ate at Carnegie Deli, where I had to try the "egg cream" - I loved it! When I got home, I tried to replicate the drink with hershey's syrup - it was horrible!!! I went on line and learned that true New Yorkers used only fox's u-bet, so I ordered some. It did not disappoint! This syrup is not gritty like Hershey's tends to be, has a fudgy taste and best of all stays emulsified in the milk and doesn't settle to the bottom of the glass.

Fox's chocolate syrup is by far the best chocolate syrup I have ever used. I saw it in the local grocery store here in Pittsburgh, PA and tried it. After using it for about six months, the local store here stopped selling it. I briefly tried the "other brands" and there's no way I can even go back to them after using Fox's.

To know Fox's U Bet is to love it!! Nowadays, you generally can only get 'Chocolate Flavored' syrup. But not this one, oh no, nothin' but the good stuff in here!! Great on ice cream, milk, and oh yeah, Egg Creams!!!

As a born and raised NY'er, chocolate egg creams ( which contain neither eggs, nor actual cream) are a beverage delight. A true egg cream can onnly be made properly with U-Bet Syrup and since I am now in the Pacific NW, i can find neither egg creams, nor U-Bet (actually I have found one true NY deli that serves them), so this was a find and a treat for me. My fellow transplants from NY are delighted as well....when they drop by, I can offer them the real deal egg-cream and tell them where to find U-Bet. Thanks!

Full disclosure - I'm a New Yorker living it the south. I was raised on chocolate egg creams in the heart of Brooklyn. There was no better chocolate syrup for Chocolate malts, ice cream sundaes and egg creams. In the old soda fountains at Woolworth,s and local candy stores, U-Bet was the chocolate syrup of choice. It's still the best, and it's still in Brooklyn.

I ordered this syrup to try an egg cream. Excellent! Then I tried it to make plain chocolate milk. Also excellent! Since I live in northern Minnesota, and hot chocolate can be a year round drink, I tried it to make hot chocolate. Superb! The next step is to try it in coffee for cafe mocha. I'm also not ashamed to admit it tastes good directly from a spoon.

You bet, U-Bet,
This review is from: Fox's u-bet 22-Oz. Original Chocolate Syrup (Misc.)
The only acceptable chocolate syrup for a Brooklyn-style "Egg Cream." I own an ice cream shop in Riverside, Illinois and have visitors from the East coast who are amazed to find egg-creams this far west of Brooklyn. If I didn't use U-Bet, I would be accused of being a charlatan.
