This is a product that exposes something MOST consumers do not know. When you plug your device into a USB port on your computer, it may charge it, but it takes FOREVER for it to charge.
Why? - Your computer naturally limits the amount of current that travels out of the USB port thus making your devices charge much much slower than a standard wall charger.

How to use this product:
When the uCharger glows blue, it's ready to charge iOS devices and by pressing the button, it turns red to charge Android devices. Pressing it once more turns the LED light off and indicates that the uCharger is ready to transfer data without charging although some of the devices i tested still charged in this state

How does this make my devices charge faster?
The uCharger exchanges protocols with the computer and sets a greater current limit than what the computer's USB port would originally output to your device. For example, if you are using a standard USB charge cable, it will output 500mA max (without the uCharger). When using the uCharger together with a USB charge cable, it will then output 1A-1.6A.

What is the difference between the "blue" and "red" charging states?:
Both charge modes (red and blue) output the same amount of power, however, the Galaxy series requires a different pin configuration for effective charging (which it's recommend using red for Android devices). Please note that this will vary depending on the charging current designated by your computer's USB port.

A couple quick points:
-The uCharger cannot be used with USB hubs, only USB ports on a computer.

Charges my iPad, my Samsung S3 as if I had a regular wall-charger. Saves having to lug around all those different wall-warts.

Several of my tech devices are fussy about their power source. For example, my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will not normally charge when connected to a computer's USB port. With this adaptor, it will. My wife's iPod Touch has no problems, either. I wish it were not necessary, but it is an essential device to carry if you want to be able to charge devices from any computer's USB port.

Nice and compact, easy to use and store, etc.
The best part besides the faster charging of devices is that you can use it to test to see which cables you have in that pile are capable of doing fast charging.
Not all micro-usb cables will do fast charging...this helps you figure out which and which do not.

...and in the power-starved world of portable device power management and the never-ending charging kabuki dance: what's not to like about that??

I've used the Satechi uCharger Hi-Speed adapter for several devices (including an HTC EVO HG LTE and a Kindle Fire), and it seems to significantly decrease USB port charging times (more so for the EVO than for the Kindle). Since my available battery life remaining displays are rather coarse on both devices (until I reach the low levels that generate system warnings to recharge...a state I try to avoid!), it's hard for me to say say precisely how much faster. However, he fully charged green indicator on the devices to appears sooner than when I charge without this.

Especially useful when you're on the go and have limited time to wait around for charging magic to finish.

I love that I can charge my iPad on the go with just my computer! Big jump in charging speed with my iPhone as well. Great piece of tech especially for the price.
